Super Easy!

I am sooo happy I didn't pay $400 to have a technician come out and replace the lamp in our Sony flat screen. This was so super easy to replace that I couldn't believe it!!! The directions are not included with the lamp, but they were in my owner's manual. I started to laugh when I took the front tv panels off. I paid the best price around(it's $200 most places), the shipping was fast, and most importantly, the lamp was in perfect condition when it arrived. Never buy a lamp warranty policy on a new tv!! We paid $200, never used it for 3 years, it expired, and now we had to buy a new lamp-good price, but we're still out an extra $140. Plus I found out the lamp policy would have only covered a lamp and I still would have had to install it myself. What a rip-off!!

Easy!

As Sylvie said above, this was really easy. Just need an Allen wrench and about 5 minutes.

The bulb in our t.v. had dimmed slowly over the last few months evidently and the brightness difference was almost shocking to me afterward. lol

I ordered from Amazon Partner River Valley Electronics and paid for expidited shipping yesterday and the bulb was delivered today. Stunning shipping/handling imop. Price was good too.

The bulb is exactly what I needed. Our picture is as bright as the day we purchased our TV. Excellent value!

Brought My Dark Screen Back to Life!!!

I bought my Sony KDF-55WF655 55-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television in 2004 for around $2,999 (which was a screamin' deal at the time believe it or not). I absolutely love the TV with its built-in subwoofer and high-fidelity speakers; I'm not excited at all about getting one of those new flat panels and dealing with a separate sound system. I am hoping this TV lasts forever, which is why my heart sank when the picture began getting darker over the past few months. After reading these reviews, I saw light at the end of the tunnel! I ordered this bulb since it's made by Sony (saw others on eBay for less but not made by Sony) and at a great price ($149). It was VERY EASY to install (didn't even need a screw driver). The instructions are in the owners manual; simply unscrew two screws with your thumb and forefinger to remove the front panel, another couple to remove the old bulb and 5 minutes later your done! My picture is incredibly brighter!! I'm no longer afraid to play dark maps on Gears of War cause I can actually see everything I couldn't before! My 1080i picture looks better than any 1080p I've ever seen as always with this TV. If the bulb cost $300, I would've paid it; definately worth the investment.

Note to self - tell the wife not to leave the TV on so much in the mornings... perhaps we'll get more than 5 years out of this replacement! :) I might buy a few more of these to be safe; who knows if they'll be available in 5 or 10 more years. Hopefully I'll be watching Superbowl 104 on this same set someday!

Do It Yourself and Save Big

From the day we got our TV I dreaded the eventual burnout of the buld. Fear no more. I installed this myself in less than 10 minutes, instructions are in the TV owners manual. Fired right up with no problems whatsoever. I'm glad no one in my area had one in stock, I would have paid $300 +/-. Instead I got it for less than $165 with expeditied shipping...
