NOT A BAD, LITTLE 'SOUND BOX'!
We brought this little guy home the day before the 4TH and have only good things to say about it!
True, we also had to consult the owners manual briefly....but our egos were not bruised in the process.
And you do have to shade the display to see it in sunlight, but as another reviewer recently stated....anything to save the batteries!
We are audiophiles and find the 'mega bass' button to be superfluous. Just leave it on and enjoy the big sound!
This little portable was purchased so we can enjoy favorite CDs and radio stations on our small sailboat (when not actually sailing). Since the boat has only 12 volt power, switch to the batteries, and it fits the purpose mightily!
PROS:
Sound
Size
Signal Strength
Steadying Rubber Foot Pads
Separate Power Cord
CONS: None

Good -- for the money
Updated March 2009. My unit has become buggy. I turn the power off after using the radio, and the CD player comes on when I turn in back on sometimes. Other uncommanded operation like that sometimes, usually the CD player starting when I do not want it to. Most of the time OK. I bring it down to three stars.
Also, I see the price is much higher than the $60 I paid. At $85 I do not think it is "OK for the money" as I said originally.
My original review from 2007 is below.

It's OK for the money -- I don't think you will do better for the price. The sound is not nearly as good as, say, the Bose Wave Radio, but that costs $500. The Mega Base feature gives the audio an artificial, honking, shrill sound that I find annoying so I do not use it. I find voice quality on the unit to be quite good and better than other, similar units I have had. Music quality is a bit of a let-down. The remote control has several extraneous TV/video functions on it; I don't know why. (Push, push, push . . . No pictures! :) ) Don't lose the remote -- some functions are not on the main unit and are only available through the remote.

Nice Look-Okay Performer
Item is larger than it appears. Cassette player is difficult to get to in order to turn over the cassette and there is an annoying buzzing sound when the cassette is played.
Does take up less space in the nightstand which is a plus and looks nicer than the conventional player.

Elegant and Loud
I used this boombox for two months already. It works as expected. It plays CD-RW discs without problems. The sound is clear. The tuner pulls stations in very well and with lowest noise. The cassette system works well. The sound coming from those speakers is amazingly loud - so it can replace your home stereo. It has an intelligent design. The antenna is tilted and the handle turns to a stop. So the handle will not touch an extended antenna. I like that. The box is solid and does not resonate with buzzing or moaning noise. It strikes me as a high quality boombox at a very reasonable price.

Incredible output
I was looking for a small, inexpensive boombox to take to work, one which I could use for both CD's and cassettes. What I had not bargained for when I purchased this item was the incredibly powerful sound that this little machine produces. I popped in a Tony Bennett CD and could've sworn he was belting out tunes live in my living room. The sound is so wonderful that I've decided not to take it to work (it might "walk") - I'm leaving it right here for my own enjoyment. And, my sister and I are buying one for our parents' anniversary. What a find!
