Awesome product with great features for a low price
This player is the best for only 40 bucks at walmart. It has a lot of features, including custom equalizer, 3x bass boost, track time left, and it also memorizes your place and resumes it after you stop it and play it again. It also only uses 1 battery at a time and lives for up to 41 hours on just that one battery.
Minor problems: buttons kind of small and sound is not the best quality at the highest volume, and no backlight (if this is a big problem for you, bring a flashlight).
But it is overall the best product out there you can get inexpensively with tons of great features and a massive crapload of mp3 memory and features.
However, I must edit this review now to say that I got a cheap Creative MuVo mp3 player and it is MUCH better.

Great
I have had this cd player for over a year now, I havent had the "no cd" problem to many time (less then 10). I use batteries that i've used in something else before in it, it still lasts awhile It's great. I've never tryed a fully charged battey in it and i dont know if i'd need to replace it after that. Yes it makes a strange noise when loading the cd but i can live with that. There is only 2 problems i really see with it, no back light for it but at that price its a steal. The other problem is slightly bigger though, It holds alot of music by compressing it, it takes a long while for it to compress, ( i think i burned 400 songs 1 cd and it took 5 hours) but besides all of that its great. I've droped it countless times and it still runs like the day i bought it though it does has some scrathes but i'd expect that after i threw it up in the air tryed to catch it and it landed in gravel. I give it 6 stars out of 10 if i could.

great product !
It has been a while since I have been so very impressed with a product. Unless you need to spend hundreds more for peer approval, this product will fit almost anyone's need for MP3 playback. Easy to use, thin, sleek styling, intuitive, logical, lightweight yet tough ...just like something SONY would do. Although I am not an exclusive brand addict, this product moves my purchasing compass clearly in their direction once again. The ATRAC software loads and executes flawlessly, very easy to use with logical organizing structures. Finished result sounds great. With it you get plenty of capacity - I put over 30 full albums on one CD-RW. Playback sound dimensions (awesome) can be tailored for any preference via several options of preset types or self-programmed setting. The included earbuds are also great which is unusual. Battery life (one AA) goes on and on just like the package claims, which is testimony to the efficient design technology behind the whole unit. LCD display is clear and easy to read under most light. Could use a nightlight but for the price who's complaining. Variety of display options is appreciated, as are the other playback and organizing options too many to list here. I've had this unit for over a month now and love it more everyday. Way more than I expected for the money, and I don't often say that. Thanks, SONY.

A cheaper, less advertized, but nonetheless great version of an iPod
For the past three years, I've had the same, twenty-dollar piece of crap c.d. player that you could buy from Target in the clearance section. I hated its guts,I can tell you, mainly because it was big and bulky and cheap and not an MP3. My experience with crappy c.d. players soured my look on electronics, but then, on my birthday, there was salvation. A friend bought me the D-NE319 and my whole outlook on c.d. players changed.
This is a great MP3 player for the money. Seriously.
Pros:
>Tough as nails. I've dropped mine three times on cement and once on a treadmill (not on purpose, of course) and the thing still lives and breathes today.
>Great sound system for the money. If I got better earphones instead of the buds I have (which aren't too bad, mind you) the sound coming out of my player would be amazing.
>Incredible software program. I've crammed over 30 c.d.'s onto one, normal, 700MB c.d.
>Lightweight, fits pretty well in the hand. Is great to jog with.
>Has a nice, sleek look.
Cons:
>Makes weird squeaky noise when it's reading a c.d. Kinda creepy.
>Like most people have said, this MP3 doesn't have an LCD screen, making it difficult to read or find music during the night.
>Once you make an ATRAC MP3 c.d., you can't play it on any other MP3 player except Sony. A cruel marketing scheme.
Altogether, this is a steal of a c.d. player for the money. Instead of getting an iPod, which has more memory than you'll ever honest to God need, and would send you to the poorhouse because of the price, you should get this Sony Walkman, because it is a steal for the money and is just great all around. I know I'm going to have mine around for a long time.
