Great value!!!

(4 out of 5) by Kevin M. Harrington on Feb 20, 2005 (Atlanta, GA, USA)
The KDC-MP228 is an excellent cd receiver for the price. The device is easy to use while still offering some advanced features. The most noteworthy feature is being SERIUS ready - you can manage Broadcast FM Radio, Sattelite radio, the built in CD player, a CD Changer and another auxillary device. Also, this device supports both MP3 and Windows Media file formats on any "finalized" CD-R / CD-RW.

For the retail price of this device, anyone would be hard pressed to find a better value in a CD receiver.

has a few flaws

(3 out of 5) by kevins7189 on Oct 26, 2005 (Omaha, NE USA)
Stereo rocks very well, has plenty of power. Plays all sorts of discs well. Some things annoy me though.
1st) won't switch from clock to text display when playing MP3 discs, only does track# to clock.
2nd) volume knob needs to be knurled or stick out more, hard to grip while driving
3rd) joystick control is hard to use, very small if you have big fingers, and really hard to control while driving if you hit even the smallest road imperfection.
4th) blue dot matrix display doesn't really match the rest of the unit, and display fades out completely if sunlight shines on it.

Good Deck, but not without flaws.

I got this deck as a gift and installed it with some moderately priced Alpine speakers. Everything sounds great but there are some annoying features i.e. the volume control should have ridges, the control knob is much too small to control while driving, and maybe it's just me but the first time it plays my Mp3 CDs it can't seem to read the disc correctly and skips or even pauses sometimes. Besides nothing more than some minor annoyances this deck sounds great, looks nice, and for the price it's a good investment.

BEST NO DOUBT

(5 out of 5) by Tradeand5 on Jul 7, 2005 (Planet Z)
I spent at least one month doing research on trying to find the BEST Auto Under the Dash CD System. and I FINALLY fond THIS ONE.
It has the Beauty and Fuction. It gives the most clear sound among ANY other on the Market currently. Plus Sirus Ready featuer is very attractive. The price is good, and if you do take time to do more search, you can buy this for under $100 Brand new. I STRONGLY recommend to buy KENWOOD SPEAKER if you want BEST out of this reciever for Clear sound.
