Works good, but beware of a few issues...

(4 out of 5) by Robbert on Mar 9, 2006 (Deerfield, New Hampshire, USA)
This product worked great out of the box, but it wasn't immediately clear how the receiver should be oriented, nor was it obvious that the acknowledgement blue led (that blinks when it receives IR commands) should be routed the same way as the receiver. The LED should really be integrated with the receiver, so you don't have to run two wires!
Also, the receiver seems to be sensitive to sunlight at times. The blue acknowledgement LED will stay on solid if that happens. Close the drapes and open them again usually solves the problem. If you don't do that, the regular IR commands you're trying to send won't get through at all!

Best remote control extender yet

(5 out of 5) by djk1940 on Feb 14, 2009 (Asheville, NC USA)
I have used many remote control extends, and this is the best for quality and performance that I have found. However, it may be necessary to run some wires to take full advantage of all it's capability.

If all the video/audio components that you want to control are all in a single cabinet, you may not need this model....the less expensive Hot Link Pro Remote Control Booster System ( 8225P ) may fit your needs. However, with the addition of Hot Link Pro Emitter Expansion Kit, the Pro X12 model is designed to easily expand to two locations, connected by either a cat 5 cable, or a pair of wires.

Setup was extremely easy. Feedback is provided by a blue light from an LED which comes on when the IR sensor is in an IR noisy location, or receives an IR signal from your remote. This LED makes it easy to find a sensor location that is both noise-free, and capable of receiving the remote IR signal. I found such a spot behind my LCD TV, with the senor facing the wall, and simply used scotch tape to hold it in place. I disagree with one of the reviewers that the blue LED should be integrated with the received. The receiver can be hidden, but the LED is so small, it is difficult to see when taped onto an edge of the TV. In that location, it provides an acknowledgement that an IR Signal was received; however, if you don't want that acknowledgement, hide the blue LED anywhere you want.

Customer support for this product is also the best I've ever experienced. Within an hour after asking a question about the product, I was in a phone conversation with the designer of the product. He not only had all the answers, he was willing help me use me use the Pro model for an application that the Pro X12 model was perfectly designed to meet....with a lot less setup effort. The amount of setup effort saved for the difference in price made the Pro X12 model my best option....and provided more options for any future applications.

AWESOME Stupendous AMAZING

(5 out of 5) by J. Scott Hester on Jun 7, 2008 (San Francisco (waiting for Comcast...again))
AWESOME Stupendous AMAZING and yes, it worked right off the bat, unlike every other component in our HD revamp. There is no discernable lag time, which is the thing I was most worried about after 7 years of TiVo rhythms. But no, it was as if the components were all in the same room. I especially love the fact that the "eye" really isn't dependant on line-of-sight (just like the ad says!). I truly haven't been this excited about an electronics purchase since my first TiVo. One word of caution, the images in the directions don't match what you get, but it is super easy to figure out which of the three components is which. The blue LED which indicates that the IR signal has been received took a bit of time to find, but not really an issue considering how AWESOME Stupendous AMAZING this is. Kudos Hotlink!

Item works perfectly and controls all of my equipment without issue. Great way to hide your electronics and still have complete remote control.
