I have had four Altec inMotion systems, and I think they are all very decent buys. Of them, I thought this had the least powerful speakers, but if you are using it in a normal home environment (not for parties, but just for listening with little other noise), it does a great job.
It was made for the long-dead mini, but if you file down the two plastic brackets, it will take any dock-equipped iPod I can think of. It will not charge a modern iPod, too, which is a bummer.
Not a thing of beauty, but not ugly, it does its job very well, especialy if you have an old Firewire-charging iPod hanging around.

waiting for refund
We purchased this for my daughter's ipod nano. Initially it worked with her Nano, then the next day her Nano stopped working. We figured the audio system was not compatable with her nano. Apple will not stand by their warrenty if you use anything other than Apple products so we decided to return it. They received the product over 1 1/2 months ago(I had tracking on the package), I emailed two weeks ago and still have not received a refund. This was purchased from Alway$deal,Inc.

Is this compatible with a 2nd generation ipod touch?
Can I use this for my 2nd generation ipod touch? I'm still waiting for this one to come and I was wondering if this will works for my ipod touch.
Big sound in such a small package
Do you want a portable audio system? This one rocks! The sound quality is amazing for it's size. Not meant to be a party machine, but a personal high quality stereo.
It works as a docking station and a charging system as well. Although this system was designed for iPods, it will also work with anything that has an 1/8" mini headphone jack, because it has an 1/8" mini input jack.
Another nice thing about this is the AC adapter. It has easily switchable international adapters for people who travel abroad.
Warning: If you have set your volume in iTunes to 100% and changed your EQ settings, you may hear distortion at high volume. To fix this, reset all volumes in iTunes to 50%, re-sync your iPod, and then on your iPod, turn your EQ off.

Incredible sound out of something so portable
I was honestly expecting lower end sound out of the iMmini. When my wife opened it and turned it on, neither of us could believe the quality. Excellent speakers lacking only the deepest of bass and considering the portability, very worth the money.
It takes AAA batteries (3 if i remember right) and has a wall plug as well. You can leave the batteries in while it's plugged in (as it appears to sense if it has AC power) and when plugged into the wall it'll even charge your iPod.
It does have a non-iPod input (standard 1/8th" headphone jack) and comes with a very short (about 4" or so) cable for other MP3 players (or any other device that has a 1/8th" out.
