AVERAGE

(3 out of 5) by TW on Mar 4, 2005
This system is certainly better than the JBL onstage docking speaker system, however it also has its drawbacks.

Pros: very compact, user friendly, portable.
Cons: eats batteries, lacks a remote, sound quality is average.

If you can afford the Bose ipod base speaker, you'll love it. It's worth the extra cash. Sound is incredible. Comes with a remote the size of a credit card.

I have all three...the Altec Lansing is better than JBL, not as good as the Bose.

Plays Ipod Nano, cd-mp3 players, stylish, sleek great sound

(5 out of 5) by Solomon Davids on Apr 26, 2007 (Bay Area, CA USA)
Just bought this great speakers yesterday. i was expecting a quite big package. But the UPS driver handed me a cd-mp3 size case. I was really excited by its size - the entire system fits into my palm. Sound was really great. I have a creative 3300 PC speakers for my desktop. Just to let you know that I don't compromise on music quality. 3300 is a wonderful speaker too with big bass and terrific beautiful speakers. I was not expecting immini to sound like that, but I was expecting quite very little. But this one beats my expectation. Sound was extremely great from this very tiny speakers. If the sound is not good, I'd have returned back the item or would have gifted our friend's kids. But that is not going to happen.

I was also not sure whether it plays Ipod nano. It fits greatly and the bass is also great. I live in an 2 bed room decent size apartment. With this system I can hear from any corner of the apartment. Some reviews complained about some distortion while the volume is very high. I tend to agree with that (but very little - not bad at all), but that doesn't stop me from giving five stars for its excellent sound (thats the main purpose of the speakers, right?)

Later in the evening, I want to try it with my sony atrac cd-mp3. I was really amazed that the sound quality was better than the Ipod Nano. Hence my mp3 burned cds doesn't really go any waste. Buy website have these systems for just 10 bucks after google checkout which itself is a great deal for this tiny excellent player- I order 2, we have one in the kitchen (Ipod) and bathroom (cd-mp3 player). Great sound - occupies very little space. Now my Ipod Nano and cd-mp3 which sits ideally in the house has potential use hereafter.

Other Pros is
1. It is definitely travel friendly. It comes along with different plugs for different countries, which is good. I will gift one of this to my relatives back in Asia when I visit them.
2. Also, the cable which connects the system and external cd-mp3 player or cd player is great. It is quite short but adjustable.
3. It charges the Ipod Nano. So whenever I need to go for jogging this helps.

Cons:
1. I have sansa m240 1gb mp3 player and this system doesn't play that.
2.

Last advise: Don't compare with Bose systems, you will be disappointed!
For the price I paid (10) this is an excellent system with great sound quality.

The reason I am writing this very lengthy review is because while I searched for few things in other reviews, I couldn't get the answer for many of my questions. Hope this will be helpful to many. I will post couple of snaps in amazon. Check that too.

Enjoy music with this sleek stylish system!!!

Simply the Best!

(5 out of 5) by M. G. Pennington on Sep 1, 2005 (Jax Beach, FL)
IF ... you are looking for the cleanest, most portable sound you can find. It's not loud, but it is oh so clear. And, it is VERY small and light. If you have an iPod Mini you HAVE to get this because it sits on your night stand taking up no space charging your docked Mini as it plays. I use mine with an iAudio G3. Best of all it can also run on four AA batteries. I looked high and low for a little system to take camping and to the beach. This one has no equal for that. If you want bigger, louder sound go for the round, much larger and heavier inMotion7. It blows Bose and JBL away and costs less. But if you want true portability, this one has no equal.

Nice speakers for iPod mini

(4 out of 5) by Mike Harrigan on Aug 17, 2005 (California)
I like this because it is specific to the iPod mini. It is compact and has a trick way of folding flat. Works perfectly with the iPod mini. The only drawback is that the bass response is limited. If you want great bass, buy the Bose, but it isn't portable.

inMotion Mini Delivers

(4 out of 5) by Ray McGarrigal on Aug 9, 2005 (Danbury Ct.)
The Altec inMotion iMini sound has proven to be as good as they advertise. The quality is better in a room setting than in the outdoors. By using the "Settings" feature on my IPOD I was able to adjust the sound for more bass which is my preference. The $100 investment broadened the opportunities for using my IPOD and gives me the best return on my music investment. The only limitation is you can only use Mini IPOD's. If someone wants to bring their IPOD to my house I can't use it with these speakers. Otherwise I am thrilled with my decision.
