13" TV/VCR Combo

(5 out of 5) by G. Reid on Feb 3, 2005 (Roseland, NJ)
Do not turn away from this nice Combo because it is only a 13" screen. There are many situations where it is just perfect. The TV is a great size for the kitchen or in a home work station next to the computer. The picture is clear and sharp with beautiful colors. The smaller screen size makes the picture sharper. The built-in VCR is so very handy to save a TV program that you do not have time to watch until later. This Combo is manufactured by Funai Corp and available for under $100. They produce the 13" TV/VCR Combo with three brand names on them. However, they are all made by Funai and are virtually identical. So it is OK to shop for the lowest price. The three brand names are Symphonic, Emerson and Sylvania. My unit is with brand name Symphonic Model # WF0213C.

Horrible antenna

(3 out of 5) by A. Jay on May 7, 2005 (Madison, WI United States)
The antenna is not the traditional "rabbit ears" design, rather it is one spindly thing like a car or radio antenna. I have not been able to get normal channels like ABC to come in on the TV at all. Sometimes I can hear them, but the picture is terrible. If you plan to hook this TV to a cable box, it is serviceable, but on its own I would NOT recommend it. The VCR plays fine, but I am returning this item ASAP.

Good Service

(4 out of 5) by TV Tuner on Jul 3, 2006 (USA)
My last TV,a similar Symphonic TV/VCR combo was purchased back in 1995 at Bradlees dept store,it has acted up as of recent years, but only the past few weeks had the picture tube started to fail.Searching around,I could not find one locally to replace it,so I had to do the internet mail order thing. The new Emerson is almost a carbon copy of the 11 year old Symphonic. They have moved the input jacks to the front but otherwise its the same case and everything. One thing I dont like is the sound. There is only one speaker working and its on the left side. The sound is very muffled and you have to crank it up to 40+ to hear the sound with any volume at all.The old set was loud at 10.There is no troubleshooting in their manual or website regarding sound output. So I think this will last 11 years? I doubt it.I miss my old Symphonic already......
