Great Power Conditioner

(5 out of 5) by Thomas Shumaker on Apr 4, 2007 (Wheaton, IL USA)
I recently purchased the Belkin PureAV PF40 to use with my audio system. I had been having problems with my system sounding bad at times and great at other times. I connected the PureAV tonight and was very impressed right out of the box. The sound of my components was spectacular. The electronic haze was gone from my system with music sounding cohensive and very smooth. I was also amazed that the power conditioner was able to handle both my Adcom power amplifiers without any apparent current limiting. Bass response seemed to improve and seemed have more weight than before. I take my stereo extremely seriously and consider myself very demanding regarding the performance of my equipment. The PureAV Power Console PF40 met my expectations and then some. The unit can be purchsed at a very reasonable cost as power conditioners go. Try one and I think you will like it.

Well I have had the PF40 for a week now and it is still performing well with my CD, Tuner, Preamp and Active crossover. I am now plugging my 2 Amps into the wall and they sound way more dynamic and have better resolution. I guest nothings perfect but I really did not think they would handle the 2 big Amps. The product remains a great product for a reasonable price and clearly out performs the AR surge protector I was using in the past.

Unexpected Quality and Performance

(5 out of 5) by Harry Littell on Dec 27, 2006 (Sacramento, CA USA)
The first thing I noticed was the clarity of the sound. I used a phase 1 Monster cleaner/surge protector plug strip for years and felt it was doing nothing, which is probably true. Looking for a replacement/upgrade, I stumbled across this brand by accident actually while looking for another Monster. The moment I saw this brand I knew this was the right one for me. Like love at first sight! Am I glad I got this model as I was going to get the lesser priced PureAV PF30 instead. This is a extremely nice unit that does everything it says it does, but you don't know it until you get one and set it up or see and hear the effect for yourself. Well, maybe you do know the difference, but I didn't nor did I have any concept it would work so well. It just smooths everything out and brings in a type of clarity that makes listening and seeing so effortless and enjoyable. It is simply unreal the effect it has--plus it has a lifetime warranty! When I first saw it in an ad, I thought of it as a total extravagance--now I see it as an absolute necessity.

This thing is solid!

(5 out of 5) by C. Williams on Dec 20, 2006 (Baton Rouge)
This is my first power console so I don't have anything to compare it with, but I bought a huge Sony HDTV last year and knew I needed something better than that cheap surge protector I was using. I found this item for less than $150 on this site which was cheaper than those beefed up power strips that Monster sell at Cicuit City. When it arrived I was surprised at how heavy the box was. This thing is built very well! It has several outlets on the back that are labled for different devices. Some of them are "switched" which means they are only turned on after you power on your receiver via the remote control. This is good for those of you who have external amps to prevent that turn off thump you may get when powering down. The supplied instructions were decent at explaining how to best use the different outlets for your system. The only thing I found confusing was the remote control, but I soon realized that you simply plug the supplied cord into the back of your switched receiver and the other end into the remote input on the back of the power console. Devices that are plugged into the switched outlets will ony be turned on when your receiver is on.

After reading other review some people post claims of improved picture and sound quality but I do not see any difference in my equipment. None the less I'm confident that if a voltage spike were to occur my equipment would be well protected.

The styling of this thing is very nice. It's as good looking as any component and I have mine displayed with the rest of my equipment. I only wish that is was black to match my stuff but that's ok. It has a cool blue display that shows you the voltage of the outlet it's plugged into and amps you're drawing as you turn on your equipment. It has several levels of dimming so you can adjust the display to your liking. It has a 12ft power cord so you shouldn't have much of a problem plugging it in.

Like a previous reviewer said it's hard to tell how well a power console is working until something goes wrong, but I'm confident that it will do it's job protecting my equipment when something does.

with this device, not only am i experiencing the security of insuring my sensitive electronic equipment, but i have also noticed a lowering of the noise floor, no glitches in the image, and s subtle improvement in the sound, in general.....kudos......also, fine build with quality parts.......

Great product at a graet price

(5 out of 5) by D. Schrey on Jan 14, 2007 (Pensacola, FL)
Not only is it a great product at a great price, it just looks so COOL! I have not noticed a huge change in picture quality in my TV, but the sound quality has gotten a bit better. There used to be a quiet background hiss coming out of my AV receiver I could hear between tracks on CD's and durring soundless parts of DVD's. I guess clean power was the solution. On top of all that, it looks really cool with the rest of my AV components. My only critisism is the dimmer button isn't very sensitive. Other than that it's a great product.
