Good value in a line purifier/surge protector!

(5 out of 5) by Scott Whyte on Oct 2, 2005 (Troy, MI USA)
There are definitely higher priced models with more bells and whistles, but is that necessary for your basic hometheater setup? Probably not. If you want a good quality product to clean up your spotty electrical issues, this model does a great job.

I live in a house that was built almost 30 years ago. Prior to installing this item in my hometheather, I would get an annoying POP everytime I'd turn on a light in that room or a few other rooms in the house. With the PureAV 2 PF30, I have completely eliminated this problem. Also, my receiver doesn't cause speaker "thud" when powering up any more. For reference, I have a Samsung 50" HD 16x9 DLP, Sony 500W receiver, Bose speakers (with separate subs for front and rear), HD Cable box w/DVR, & Sony DVD player. It has no problem handling all this stuff without any apparent glitches during use.

I was skeptical initially about the value of this kind of product, but after using it for even a few weeks, I am convinced that a power line purifier is a necessary component to a home theater system. I'm considering something similar for my computers...

solid, sleek, effective

(5 out of 5) by Mrtz on Jan 10, 2007 (San Jose, CA)
Summary:
Excellent product for the price as compared to the equivalent but more expensive and uglier Monster power surge protectors. Improvement in audio quality.

What I liked about this product:
- Less expensive for similar features as compared to other power surge protectors/power cleaners like Monster in the local stores
- Very well engineered - feels industrial strength as well as very aesthetic. Extremely sleek and compact - even the screws are perfectly flush.
- I could immediately tell the difference in sound quality from my speakers (treble clarity improved and sub-woofer output sounds cleaner and deeper). Not sure if I could tell any difference in picture quality on HDTV.
- The DirecTV signal works fine when passed through this unit and then connected to the satellite receiver - that allows the receiver/TV to be protected from any possible surges from the satellite input signal.
- Have not noticed any heating - it runs quite cool.
- Blends well with other home theater components. Much better than having an ugly box behind the home theater with power plugs sticking out vertically. Allows me to manage the power cords better giving a cleaner look behind the home theater.
- Sufficient (8) power output sockets for audio/video equipment.

One thing I did not like - no way to fully turn off all output power. It has a switch which allows one to turn off the "audio" components, but it keeps the video components on. I know this is by design to allow for example a recorder to do timed recording etc. But maybe there should have been another option to fully switch off the entire system when you are away. But this is a very minor annoyance.

Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to protect their expensive home theater / HDTV and get the most out of their system.

great item

(5 out of 5) by C. Morrison on Nov 13, 2006 (Dallas, TX)
After receiving my Samsung 40" LCD TV, I was experiencing lines running from bottom to top and a loud humm in the audio. I was told by my cable company and by Samsung that it was because my house's wiring wasn't grounded and I would have to have my house re-wired to remedy the problem. Someone reading my review of the TV recommended a power conditioner. I bought the PF30 and it totally solved my problem. It was easy to set up as the plugs are all labeled. It's a heavy duty product - Thanks, Belkin!!

Quite Amazing

This is my first power conditioner and I had no idea before this purchase that poor power can have an impact on picture and sound quality. This power conditioner made a huge difference in the quality of my LCD TV picture. I have my cable tv wire running through the condition, also. Most of my channels come in brighter and clearer. Is it that the conditioner is amplifing the tv signal or is it the cleaner power? I don't know; I have not done an in-depth read of the owner's manual. Consequently, I have found one negative. I nolonger can get the QAM channels from my cable tv signal. I am only receiving the analog channels at this point. My quess is I'll have to manually program the QAM channels into the TV. I can't speak on the longevity of the product. I have only owned it for a short period of time. Now knowing what power conditioner are capable of, in particularly this model, I'm considering returning this one and purchasing an upgraded model. These things absolute work. This was a purchase I was unsure of its need in the beginning, but now I know never to go without one again.
