GE 50723 Motion Sensor Night Lite

(5 out of 5) by Cathy Collins on Feb 11, 2009 (Hixson, TN)
This light is by far the best sensor motion night lite I've ever used (and I've used several). I already had a couple from several years back, but couldn't find additional ones in the stores. So glad I found them on Amazon! What makes these lights great is that 1)they put out a good amount of light 2)the sensor field is about 180 degrees, so they pick up movement before you are standing directly in front of the light. Terrific product. If I find any other place that needs another light, I'll definitely order more.

Love 'them

(5 out of 5) by C. Monroe on Sep 28, 2007 (Shrewsbury, PA)
I have 6 of these throughout my home and I love them. I tried another type and was not as satisfied as they seem to say on even when the main light source is on. These turn off appropriately. Highly recommended.

The best nightlight I've found.

(5 out of 5) by K. Jellander on Jan 18, 2009 (NY)
Not only does it have a light sensor, but it also has a motion sensor, which means that it turns itself on when it's dark and it senses movement, so that it doesn't stay on all night needlessly or annoyingly. It has a wide range of motion sense and stays on for just the right amount of time to get you where you're going. Granted, you need to find just the right spot for it, but in the hallway at the top of our stairs and right outside our bedroom it is absolutely perfect for us.

THE VERY BEST EVER!!!

(5 out of 5) by Dan Yan on Oct 2, 2009 (NY)
First of all "Thank You" to all those that took the time to Review this Motion Sensing Night Light. I shop Amazon basically because of the Reviews on products. THIS Night Light is totally AWESOME and high quality! Here is a tip for you that worry about any "heat" from the installed 4 watt incandescent bulb on this night light...

..........
[ LED BULB (Optional Purchase from Amazon)]
C. Crane BNB Bright LED Night Light Bulb
I installed these LED (Light Emitting Diode) candelabra [E12 base] base bulbs to replace the existing 4 WATT Incandescent "clear bulbs"
You will enjoy this LED bulb as much as I do - This LED bulb fits perfectly in this night light:

It DOES throw a lot of (White) light, and LOW wattage as all LED bulbs are. These LED bulbs will pay for themselves in $avings in lower electric bills. Incandescent bulbs are prone to shortened life due to 'turning ON and OFF.' The filament weakens from excessive use from the heat from switching on and off - as these motion sensor night lights will be doing. The LED bulbs don't have this problem, and put out NO HEAT at all.

[ LED BULB, C7 (Optional Purchase from Amazon) ]
White LED C7 Replacement Light Bulb / Candelabra Base L.E.D. / .96 Watt Holiday and Christmas Lighting Replacements
This LED Bulb (candelabra base) "White LED C7 Replacement Light Bulb / Candelabra Base L.E.D. / .96 Watt Holiday and Christmas Lighting Replacements"
WILL also work and fit nicely in the GE Motion Light. I am using this bulb in the bedroom, it seems to be a 'softer' WHITE LED bulb and works great.

[ SWITCH TAP, White, Same exact WHITE COLOR as GE Night Light (Optional Purchase from Amazon)]
Leviton 1469-00W Switch Tap, White
Leviton 1469-00W Switch Tap, White ]] This is a great Optional PLUGIN SWITCH that can be added quickly to allow you to Turn Off temporarily the GE MOTION SENSING NIGHT LIGHT. Plug this plugin Switch into the wall receptacle then plug in the GE Motion Sensing Light Light into the Plugin Switch. Works great in Bedroom or Hallway to easily MANUALLY turn Off the GE Motion Sensing Night Light if it should continue to turn On when not needed.

[] For those of you with PETS, these lights are a MUST HAVE.
[] The 'range' is quite long, and the 60 SECONDS after motion detected time is great!
[] Can't find any bad things to say about this product, I wish everything was built this well...

ENERGY SPECS: for the GE 50723 Motion Sensing Night Light
.........................................................
I'll share my TEST RESULTS using the Kill-A-Watt meter:
P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor

[] Night light plugged IN (using either bulb below (Stand-by Light OFF mode) = 0 Watts on meter [Much Less than 1 watt]
[] Night light plugged IN with Crane LED Bulb (Bulb Lit & ON) = * 0 Watts * [Much Less than 1 watt] as displayed on Kill-A-Watt meter
C. Crane BNB Bright LED Nightlight Bulb
[] Night light plugged IN with original INCANDESCENT Clear Bulb (Bulb Lit & ON) = 2 Watts on Kill-A-Watt meter...

For my Energy saving money, you can see I am going to use the Crane LED bulb :LED bulb Life span 50,000 hours + - (*ESTIMATED))
INSTEAD of the existing Incandescent Clear bulb (ESTIMATED. bulb * Life span: 2000 hours + -(*ESTIMATED))

[] NOTE: Night Light WILL remain ON as long as * MOTION IS detected. * I plugged night light in near me and my TV, and light remained ON while I sat watching TV. Later after I left TV room, the night light turned OFF after 60 SECONDS of no motion nearby.
[] Night light has turned ON with my motion detected at as much as 15 - 20 feet away...

GREAT PRODUCT! Great for Hallways, windowless Bathrooms, closets, more.
[ Caution removing clear plastic cover, use finger nail on lower MIDDLE section, PULL STRAIGHT Forward AWAY from white plastic base, do NOT force from top section ]

Enjoy, these are very high quality, and function perfectly. Highly Recommend!!

Horizontal or Upright Socket makes a difference

(4 out of 5) by S. xie on Jun 11, 2009 (Bay Area)
Great item. Only draw back is that upright is the best position. I needed this as a hallway light. The light socket on the hallway is position like this (==) so when I plug this light in, it's horizontal (not upright like the picture). The problem with this is that when it is horizontal, it can only detect motion from 1 direction as opposed to both directions if the light was upright (the round ball is motion detector).
