Just Lovely!

(5 out of 5) by E's Opinion on Feb 5, 2009 (Columbus, OH USA)
I purchased these as part of my Home Theater Christmas-present-to-myself, and I couldn't be happier. These are wonderful speakers--clear, crisp and make music come alive. I have them hooked up to a Yamaha HTR-6160, with a complete Polk speaker system (CS2 as the center, I forget the rear's name). Both music and movies come alive. And they look wonderful on either side of my plasma TV. I am really happy with these speakers.

Great Speakers at a Great Price

(5 out of 5) by Scott McMillan on Jan 21, 2009 (La Mesa, CA United States)
I recently purchased the Monitor 70 speakers to replace a set of older Polk floorstanding speakers. Although I was very happy with my old Polk's, they were lacking in the mid-range. Not these Monitor 70's, they are amazing in the low, mid and high range. I have listed to numerous types of music since getting these a month ago (heavy metal, blues, country, and others). These speakers have an amazing performance on all types of music and kick butt with movies, etc. Although I am sure we would have been happy with these speakers without a subwoofer, the addition of the Polk subwoofer makes for an amazing combination. Great buy!

Monitor stands out

(5 out of 5) by ice grizzly on May 13, 2008 (Dream Land)
These speakers standout. You need a good set of electronics to back it up. Clarity is excellent. The setup still requires a nice subwoofer, as the speakers woofer is not powerful enough. Onkyo 7xx/8xx allows bi-amp using the rear back connectors, it improves the woofer performance compared to default setup. Iam in a loose-loose situation with onkyo & polk audio. I either loose 7.1 or bass performance. I cant blame polk for that. Iam going to switch to 7.1 and use a sub.

HSU-VTF Sub is more than capable of handling any low frequency. Onkyo double basss is a cool idea, now both my sub and speakers can work in tandem.

amazing price, amazing sound

I have done extensive research before my purchase, and I got a pair of these from J&R for 199 each. I'm extremely pleased with the amazing sound. The most impressive thing to me is that I could listen at extremely low volumes and hear everything completely clearly.

BTW, it is about 16 inches deep including the front grill. Well, I wish they don't stick out from the wall that much, but I could certainly overlook that because of the beautiful sound quality. I highly recommend these.

Best investment for me

I never expected the sound quality surpassed all I thought before purchasing.
With Monotor 70 as front speakers, monior 50 as surrounding speakers and CS1 as center speaker. The music is so moving and touching, bass and treble is JUST adequate, no more no less, super clear treble, mellow base, best investment for me.
