Polk is always hard to beat. They set the bar pretty high.. Just listen to these speakers and any of their products next to the competitions and you'll see what I mean. These monitors are used to complement my Polk Center Channel, Polk PSW505 Sub, and bose satellite cube speakers. These Speakers are very clear. I tried them without the sub to see how hard they hit with the bass as well. They supply enough bass to have a good effect when watching movies or playing games but they can not match what a good sub can do. For the price these speakers are hard to beat. They look and feel well built. I am happy with my purchase and their ability to fill my 24x30 room.

I purchased audio speakers for my surround sound TV system. I selected Polk Audio Monitor 50 speakers. One of the best decisions I have made. The speakers perform with clear sound and make a great addition to my system. I would recommend these speakers for any surround sound TV system to anyone.

First, I am not an audiophile but I wanted a home theater system that sounded really good. I've done a lot of research and I looked at speaker systems ranging from $400 to $3200.
I am using these speakers for my front and rear speakers in my surround sound system. They were not by first choice, but decided to go with them as they were 75% cheaper than the some of the others I was considering. I am very happy with them and feel they are truly a great bargain.
They are driven by a Yamaha RX-663 AVR and are grouped with a Polk CSi3 center speaker and a Polk PSW125 12" subwoofer. Once the calibration program on the receiver was run with these speakers the sound quality seemed to really jell. Watching movies became more immersive to the point that it would be very hard to go back to TV sound.
The cherry wood veneer finish is very nice and this really helped when getting WAF (wife approval factor) for adding 4 floorstanding speakers and a 16" square subwoofer to our living environs.

I just purchased 2 pairs of these to be powered by a Marantz 2285, replacing junk Sears speakers I've had since the mid 80's. I was initially concerned that a 2 way speaker with no large subwoofer would compromise the highs and lows. Let me tell you, these sound fantastic. These Polks can take all my Marantz can give and then some. The only drawback (if you want to call it that)is the speakers need about 5 minutes to "warm up". Bass is true and rich, mids and highs cut through very well, if you want a quality, versatile set of speakers for 250-300 dollars , you need to look into these Polk 50's.

After purchasing a 46" Samsung flat panel, it quickly became apparent that High Def video only delivers part of the home theatre experience. Several home theatre audio options were explored (HTIB, Bose 321, High End and Low End), but after scratching the surface, they were either inadequate or out of reach price wise. My neighbor was going through a similar process and purchased a high end receiver and also picked up two tower speakers for $500 a piece. I sampled the sound on his system and was not impressed, particularly for the $1,500 price tag on 3 pieces. I picked up an Onkyo705 receiver, two monitor 50 L&R speakers, CSi3 center speaker, velodyne sub and two cheap surrounds (until I can afford the polk dipoles). That was 10 months ago, and I have not been disappointed. I get compliments all the time on my system, and I got 5 pieces of equipment for less than my neighbor paid for 3. Whether it is movie sound tracks or music, these speakers rock. The sound is clear and full, while other speakers I've sampled sound tinny or flat. You can easily pick out individual instruments. And while a sub noticeably delivers deep base, these speakers don't slack on their own. I often watch TV or listen to music without the sub on. The build is solid, unlike some of the other offerings...my kids fell into one and knocked it into the wall. While the wall had two large chunks out of it, there was no damage to the speaker. If you're looking for great sound at a great price, then get these.
