If only it had a memory...

(4 out of 5) by LA in Dallas on Jan 22, 2006 (Dallas)
I've had my sunrise clock for about 3 months now and am glad I bought it. I routinely get up at 5:00, and it's always been difficult, especially in winter. I would wake up, glance at the dark, cold room, and turn back over with a moan. Now the clock brightens gradually from 4:30 to full bright at five, and I'm ready to get out of bed. Even if I sleep late on the weekend, my circadian clock knows that the lights come on at 5:00 and its easy to get up Monday morning.

I have one beef with this clock: it has no memory. Whenever there's a power blink, it's necessary not only to set the correct time, but also to re-enter ALL your settings. Flash memory or a battery backup would be a big improvement.

Peaceful awakening

(4 out of 5) by N. Thorson on Jan 4, 2006 (Chicagoland)
I really like this clock. Today is the first day I used it. What a peaceful way to wake up! It's almost like waking up on a Saturday morning, with the sunlight streaming into the room. Almost.

However, I do have two negative comments regarding the clock. First, it is not UL listed, so I'm concerned about safety. Secondly, the ringing alarm is supposed to be quiet. It's not.

Gentle, Natural Wake Up Call

(5 out of 5) by D. Thomsen on Sep 29, 2005 (Stamford, CT USA)
My 14-yr old son has to get up at 6am now for high school. Rising early has always been very difficult for him; he will sleep till 11 am if given the chance. Now he wakes to a SunRise Alarm Clock and getting up early has never been so easy! It wakes him gently as the light brightens over 30 min. He is even in a good mood because he hasn't been shocked awake by a loud alarm in the dark. What a wonderful device.

Great clock!

(5 out of 5) by L. Mann on May 1, 2006 (MD)
I bought this clock to take with me on a cruise last month. I have a HORRIBLE time waking up in the dark (as in - it doesn't happen)! The amount to upgrade to a cabin with a window (just so I would know when it was morning) was about $300 per person. I decided to give this little clock a try for less than $100 and I'm glad I did! I was able to stay in an "inside" cabin, set the alarm, and easily wake up to a warmly lit room every morning. It worked like a charm and I'll definitely be using it every morning once daylight savings time is over with!

I guess you could say this clock saved me $600!!! ;)

Waking up was never so easy!

(5 out of 5) by K. Dunlap on Apr 18, 2008 (Portland, OR USA)
I was a little skeptical when I bought this clock for my girlfriend, but it really works! The light starts to come on 30 minutes before the time you set and is fully bright by the time you want to wake up. If you don't turn it off before the time you set, a beeping alarm comes on to remind you that it's time!

It's a nice, gentle way to wake up.

We have to set it about 6 feet from the bed due to outlet placement, but it still wakes us up. I don't think she'll ever go back to a regular ringing alarm clock again.

Setting the time/alarm are a little confusing at first, but we got the hang of it pretty quickly.
