Great Scanner at a Greater Price

Feb 10, 2005 - By E. Cunningham (Virginia, USA)

I was looking for something that I could use to scan personal documents. I ran across a write-up on this scanner in the electronic version of PC Mag. I figured, "why not?" For the price, you can't beat it. Even if it turns out to be a bad choice it's only $50.00, right? I have to tell you that this was the best electronic item that I have purchased in many, many years. It actually does what it's supposed to do; does it quickly and in several different document formats. Also, all documentation is straight and to the point -- no computer-ese required. I would recommend this to anyone -- especially when you have color photos you would like to scan and email or for those pesky documents that only real estate agents and insurance companies use. File formats are .pdf, jpeg, .bmp and tiff. An amazing little machine.

Great Scanner!

Mar 24, 2005 - By Amazon Customer

I have a web site that is all about my cats. My mom has this real old Plustek Skanner, and I was going to use it to make a sketches section in my site, but when I scanned my first sheet, two things went wrong.
1. VERY slow.
2. When I saw the sheet, there was blue and pink and green everywhere.
I then started looking on ebay for a good scanner. I checked best buy. Then I checked wal-mart. Wal-mart had a really nice scanner on there web site. $48. I then read some reviews. The CanoScan 3000ex was one of the best scanners out there. I looked in three walmarts in one day to try to find it. We had to settle for ordering of of Amazon (it's easier to get it locally). It came very fast though. The scanner itself has three different buttons: Scan, Copy, E-Mail. It also comes with Arcsoft PhotoStudio and ArcSoft PhotoBase. Thoose are a lot to buy alone too. You can press any button on the scanner and it does it almost instantly. If you were like me, and had been looking at a lot of site for the scanner, I'll bet that you saw the USB 2.0 logo. I never thought that 2.0 versus 1.1 would be such a big difference. It is quite a big difference though. With the buttons, you can program them to automaticly save to a specified location, make x # of copies and use the printer of your choice, and I haven't tried the E-Mail button. This is one of the best things that is electronic that I have ever gotton. It is very cheap and very good. Enjoy.

Excellent value

Jun 23, 2005 - By Twain

I have not really used other scanners, so I cannot say for sure that a more expensive scanner would not have more features or be better in some other way. But what I can say is that I am very pleased with my Canoscan 3000 EX. For the price, it performs all basic scanning functions simply, quickly, and efficiently. The quality of the output is extremely good. It is very easy to use. I did not have to look at the instruction manual. This scanner is also seamlessly recognized by Adobe Photoshop if you want to make multipage PDF's. Overall, I'm sure there are scanners that are in some way "better" but for the price, why risk finding out.
