Much better then Scosche's kit!!!

(5 out of 5) by C. Lowder on Aug 1, 2007 (Baytown, TX USA)
THIS IS BY FAR, THE BEST KIT FOR FORD TAURUS' 2000 - 2006!

I owned the Scosche kit for 5 days, the material was thin around the face and the posts that are suppost to keep the install kit from popping out of the dash, while removing it, one of those posts broke!

I order this kit the next day and have had no problems with it. This kit is made with thicker plastics where it should be, the rear defogger button doesn't look cheezy, the backlighting for the A/C controls are much more lit.

Great Aftermarket Fit

(5 out of 5) by Adrian A. Dinham on Jul 20, 2007
The fit and finish on product was execellent. Other than the din unit in place, it is difficult to tell it is not a factory installation.

Very Nice

(4 out of 5) by Chris Church on Jun 2, 2007 (Chicago, IL)
I received this kit from Amazon a couple days ago and put it and my new radio in my '02 Taurus in about 2 hours. It is sturdy and looks nice though it doesn't look like factory equipment. I chose this one because others were said to look cheap and feel flimsy. This one is definitely better than that.

The plastic is multi layer and sturdy and holds the radio without any problem. This adapter has back lighting for the climate controls too and they look better than those on the 96 - 99 kit also made by Metra which look pretty cheezy.

The biggest complaint (and its not that bad) is that the instructions could be a little more detailed. But after getting familiar with everything the installation was pretty easy. It would also be nice if they included the removal tools. I ended up shoving drill bits and allen keys in the holes then pushing the old one out from behind.

One quick note, if your new radio is deeper than the Ford control unit, you will probably have to remove the bracket that is designed to hold the back of the radio. If you don't the kit will bulge out since it can't slide all the way into the opening.

Overall I'm very happy with this kit.

Rather disappointing

(2 out of 5) by Bob Powell on Jan 11, 2007 (San Jose, CA)
I bought this item instead of a competitors less expensive model due to the reports I read concerning the matching of the coloring. Also, the manufacturer claims that their wiring is superior and stays connected. I had the power lead pull out during the initial install, another came loose 6 months later and the rear window defroster still isn't wired since three of the four wires were off in the packaging when received. I emailed the manufacturer who said they had no diagram and were unable to assist me in getting them on the correct pins. I would have been better off paying less for the competition and taking a chance on the coloring and texture matching.

Not too bad

(4 out of 5) by Corey Provencher on Dec 19, 2006 (Maine)
Well I ordered this like 9 months ago, looks good, all there, just never installed it, not sure if I want to mess with the whole thing or not. I have seen other ones that look like crap compared to this one! the only kit I would be willing to install!
