does not work

Dec 23, 2005 - By midbar (Pittsburgh, PA United States)

The adaptor, advertised as "the perfect solution for connecting your input device to other ports on your computer," does not work with a regular PS/2 keyboard connnector and a USB port on a Dell laptop. A customer support person from TigerDirect, which sells them, explained that the stuff they sell is not supposed to work "with those proprietary machines like Dell or Compaq, only with the machines made from scratch." Of course, such nonsense could never be included in the product description. The agent's supervisor said the agent was "incorrect," promised to speak to him and his manager (the possible content of that discussion was not disclosed), and offered a return authorization number, with reimbursement that does not cover the initial shipping. As that shipping cost more than the adaptor ($7.04 vs. $4.99), there is no way to recover the loss.

********* READ THIS ******************

This item only works with Logitech brand keyboards. From the reviews seems like the buyers have not done the proper research and Amazon description does not state that either.

So, unless you have a Logitech brand keyboard this item will not work for you.

Hope this helps those that are still looking

Confirmed - No go for Dell's

Mar 27, 2006 - By D. Bennett (Los Angeles, CA USA)

Bought one of these fellers for my laptop to use one of the old IBM 'clicky' type keyboards; no trouble using the keyboard with any computer with a ps/2 connector, but the USB converter is not recoginzed with the Dell.

simply doesn't work

Sep 4, 2006 - By Herbert J. Fellows (New york ny)

Same as above, will not work with Dell. Considering Dell's share of the computer market, don't you think Amazon ought to tell us this, even if the manufacturer and the retail store don't? Why doesn't Amazon check these customer ratings and refuse to sell products which get 1 or 2 stars across the board???

I wish we could give zero stars...

I hooked this thing up to my dell 1705 laptop tonight so I could use my nice old keyboard on it. It never worked. Went to amazon and read the comments - seems alot of people have had the same problem. Aparently laptops are not the "normal" pc's that you might make from scratch and have "custom" stuff in them from Dell, Compaq, HP, Gateway, Apple, IBM, Lenovo, among others...

It DOES NOT WORK - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - TELL AMAZON TO DITCH THIS.
