Great value

Dec 21, 2004 - By Office Wizard (Illinois)

Quick, quiet, reliable. Great for home office if you don't need color. I bought this printer to replace an earlier model Okidata LED page printer that I had for many years. Because of my positive experience with the old printer, I didn't hesitate at all to buy another Okidata. Now I wish the old printer had died just a little sooner, since the B4100 is so much quicker and quieter. Holds a good supply of paper in a flat tray, and output can be routed to stack in page number order so you don't have to shuffle multi-page output to put the pages in reading order. Easy and quick to refill the toner cartridge if that's your preference. Convenient manual feed for envelopes (one at a time); if you do larger mailings, check first to see if you can get an envelope add-on tray. Check the specs for output speed details; I find them impressive for a printer in this price range.

!!! Most cost effective toners in the world !!!

Jan 20, 2006 - By Katy J

My 11 year old Okidata OL600E finally gave up, well the Drum that is, and I figured that instead of replacing the drum I might as well upgrade alltogether. Folks, there was no question in my mind what brand I should get. Okidata never failed me in the past, and as present shows it is still the number 1 option: toner for this machine costs $30 vs 85-125 for Brother, Lexmark or HP. And I am talking the same print output of 2,500 - 3,000 copies per cartridge. Okidata is able to do this because you do not need to replace the drum every time you run out of toner, the drum stays in the unit! My previous machine did not need a drum replacement in all those 11 years of use! If I wanted to I could replace the drum for $120 (cost of toner for Lexmark printer!).

Now, about the B4100. If you're upgrading from previous models, such as OL600E, you'll notice that it is very similar. The foot print is the same size, but the B4100 is slightly higher. This is due to the paper tray being higher capacity (250 pages vs 100 in the OL600E).

Changing cartridges is extremely simple, takes 30 seconds at the most. Cartridges are widely available which is convenient.

Printing is blazing fast at 19 pages / minute. Output quality is excellent. User can choose paper weight to avoid paper jams in the machine, isn't that cool?

Get an Okidata and start saving $$ on toner!

My only complaint is that the USB cable is not included, but then again, my house is full of them.

Out of the box you will get the machine, toner, and the driver cd (skip the utility installation, just use the driver when prompted by Windows, that way you won't be bothered with the reminders to replace cartridge as the toner nears the end).

Great everyday/ home office printer

Jan 19, 2007 - By D. Wells (Hampton Roads, VA)

This is an awesome printer for everyday, black and white printing needs. It was easy to set up, affordable, and all the tech info is downloadable online, so no need to keep up with a manual. The downside we've found is that it won't feed cardstock or heavyweight type paper. I make the cards our kids use for thanks you notes and invitations, so this lack is noticeable in our home. For just basic printing needs, it's a great buy.

Best kept secret!

Apr 4, 2007 - By Nadir N. Virani (Dallas, TX)

I've had it with all-in-one fancy printers. This printer on the other hand is commercial grade and a work horse. I am using it at a non-profit clinic and for two years and counting; it has not let me down. Just imagine how long it will last for an average home user. I highly recommend this printer.
