Beltronics Vector 945 Radar and Laser Detector

Nice but could be more rugged

This is clearly better than the old one. It has fewer false alarms (though not zero) and better sensitivity for the real thing.
My only problems have been reliability. I had to tape up the power cord on both ends, and the original speaker broke after a couple of years. Then I replaced it with an old telephone speaker (which also failed), and then with a speaker from some low end headphones.
That's how I'm running now; I hope it will last a few more years because it really does work. And it has some nice features such as the auto mute (so it doesn't sit there beeping when I am stopped at a light), and autoscan which does a pretty good job figuring out whether you are on the highway or in the city.

BEWARE! Beltronics will not honor it's warranty
(1 out of 5) by Robert Jacob on Nov 30, 2005 (Fairport, NY)I own a different model of Beltronics radar detector (the Express 925) which I have had for less than a month. It developed a porblem with the display, so I called Beltronics so that I could get it repaired. Surprise! Surprise! The lady there told me they will not honor the warranty of any Beltronics radar detector not sold by an "authorized reseller" and she told me that Amazon is NOT an authorized reseller. So if you buy your radar detector from Amazon or other non authorized dealers, they will not honor the warranty if you have a problem. Check Beltronics web site to verify this!

This has SAVED me so many times
(5 out of 5) by Peter Andre on Jun 2, 2007I thought about getting a radar detector for a while then when I got 2 $200 tickets I decided it was time to try it out. I haven't gotten a ticket since it has been about 3 years.
