It works both ways!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 27, 2004 (Columbus, OH)
TigerDirect's shipping is a little exorbitant, but I can't otherwise complain about a fine product. I bought it hoping to reverse it to put both my CD changer and my Playstation 2 into the same input on my receiver, and it works just fine. I can't have both on at once, but wasn't planning to anyway. I'm sure it works fine splitting one input into two, but that's just not what I was looking for. This product is, however, and I'd happily pass it on to anybody looking for the same solution.

Doesn't Work

Plugged it in and it didn't work. I can see the light coming out when I plug the cable in but I think the splitter dulls the optical signal too much.

Thing doesn't work for me at all. Tried plugging everything in in different ways but it still doesn't work. Don't waste your time on this.

Splitter works great!

(5 out of 5) by M. Yazijian on Mar 8, 2007 (Los Angeles, CA United States)
I use it to output the sound from my optical a/v selector (Impact Acoustics A/v Selector) to my surround sound receiver and also to my surround sound headphones simultaneously.
It streams the sound to both outputs without any noticeable loss of quality. Highly Recommended.

Works

(4 out of 5) by Alex on Nov 11, 2006
I bought this to use it as a coupler and be able to connect two cables together. When I first hooked it up to my Logitech Z-5500 speakers, it wouldn't work. The signal must have been too attenuated in order to decode it properly. After I played around with the order of the cables and which I used on the splitter, it worked and has given me no problems yet.

I guess this works fine, but I really haven't tested it as a splitter. Beware, though, the signal may be too weak or poor and may not work.
