Awesome bass, crisp highs and decent mids!

Aug 5, 2004 - By Mike Kay (Binghamton, NY)

Reviews for this system were very high on Circuit City's website so I decided to give this system a try. I'm very happy with this system. Allows you to set the bass to 3 different levels, personally the high setting is too much bass for me. But if you like bass this is the system for you. I especially like the sound this shelf system puts out. Sounds much better then my old Kenwood and the new Sharp system I bought for the office.

Be forewarned that the speakers are big for a mini shelf system and the system would have been better if it had RCA audio in jacks. The subs are side firing and the speakers are pretty deep. But I'm not looking to hook up an Xbox to this so for the amount of money spent and realizing this is just a mini system, well worth it!

good audio system

Jul 20, 2005 - By Dilby dompkins (Lincoln, NE USA)

The HX-GX7 is the best if you can get it for a good price. i got mine for $200 and put it in my bedroom. It has 180 watt per channel dual twin-hyper-power-drive subwoofers and twin woofers in the front. it has 80 watts per channel total for the woofers and tweeters combined, making 520 watts total system power. Its very great but its probably only worth about $250.
One thing is the auxillary hookup is a mini-jack, so it doesnt take rca input. Your tv has to have a head phone jack
It has units of volume from 0-30. id say it shakes the house on about 15. The fan is no bother and you can only hear it when you stop it quickly from at least volume 11. Sound quality is amazing. its what youd expect from a $300 system. The remote is a bit hard to get used to since the buttons arent in any particular order. Well I can say it has a ton of bass. You can feel it as well as hear it. The subs go all the way down to 28hz which is good considering they're 6 1/3 in. The 5cd changer is easy to use with the five separate trays, its pretty fast at switching too. and rythmn ax seems to deepen the bass and accentuate the rhythmn....so i have fun waking up to tunes in the morning and it has a nice clock. well, when you turn it on it makes makes a clicking noise for a few seconds and I checked and, yep, it comes from the auto-reverse cassette deck. It might be good to just take out the tape deck except i listen to alot of tapes so its good for me. well overall its a good system with great sound, a lot of money going into the speakers, and handy features.

amazing

Feb 22, 2005 - By Christopher J. Welsh (Michigan State University)

i just have to say it is amazing. i don't know that those wattage figures are right though. mine kind of says 520W across the front of it and thats what circuitcity said it had. with 180 into each sub. this is not the GX8 w/o a dvd player this is a different stereo with a different main tower which powers differently into different speaker towers. yes i said tower! these things are HUGE. dont get me wrong in this review I LOVE IT. i bought mine of ebay though, enjoy the fact that i paid 68$ for mine!it may be used a little but it hits and it hits HARD.enjoy it!careful with the alarm tho will nock down ur house if you don't turn it off.
