Awesome bass, crisp highs and decent mids!
Reviews for this system were very high on Circuit City's website so I decided to give this system a try. I'm very happy with this system. Allows you to set the bass to 3 different levels, personally the high setting is too much bass for me. But if you like bass this is the system for you. I especially like the sound this shelf system puts out. Sounds much better then my old Kenwood and the new Sharp system I bought for the office.
Be forewarned that the speakers are big for a mini shelf system and the system would have been better if it had RCA audio in jacks. The subs are side firing and the speakers are pretty deep. But I'm not looking to hook up an Xbox to this so for the amount of money spent and realizing this is just a mini system, well worth it!

good audio system
The HX-GX7 is the best if you can get it for a good price. i got mine for $200 and put it in my bedroom. It has 180 watt per channel dual twin-hyper-power-drive subwoofers and twin woofers in the front. it has 80 watts per channel total for the woofers and tweeters combined, making 520 watts total system power. Its very great but its probably only worth about $250.
One thing is the auxillary hookup is a mini-jack, so it doesnt take rca input. Your tv has to have a head phone jack
It has units of volume from 0-30. id say it shakes the house on about 15. The fan is no bother and you can only hear it when you stop it quickly from at least volume 11. Sound quality is amazing. its what youd expect from a $300 system. The remote is a bit hard to get used to since the buttons arent in any particular order. Well I can say it has a ton of bass. You can feel it as well as hear it. The subs go all the way down to 28hz which is good considering they're 6 1/3 in. The 5cd changer is easy to use with the five separate trays, its pretty fast at switching too. and rythmn ax seems to deepen the bass and accentuate the rhythmn....so i have fun waking up to tunes in the morning and it has a nice clock. well, when you turn it on it makes makes a clicking noise for a few seconds and I checked and, yep, it comes from the auto-reverse cassette deck. It might be good to just take out the tape deck except i listen to alot of tapes so its good for me. well overall its a good system with great sound, a lot of money going into the speakers, and handy features.

amazing
i just have to say it is amazing. i don't know that those wattage figures are right though. mine kind of says 520W across the front of it and thats what circuitcity said it had. with 180 into each sub. this is not the GX8 w/o a dvd player this is a different stereo with a different main tower which powers differently into different speaker towers. yes i said tower! these things are HUGE. dont get me wrong in this review I LOVE IT. i bought mine of ebay though, enjoy the fact that i paid 68$ for mine!it may be used a little but it hits and it hits HARD.enjoy it!careful with the alarm tho will nock down ur house if you don't turn it off.
Incredible all around!
This stereo is just fantastic all around. I purchased it on a whim and not knowing what to expect. I've owned the same Aiwa system since 2000 and thought it was time for a change. Here are my un-biased impressions.
Sound: The sound that this stereo produces is utterly amazing. The clarity of the highs and mids in mixture with the hard hitting lows makes this stereo a must have. The sheer bass power that this system produces will make your jaw drop. If you live in an apartment and don't want to upset your neighbors, don't buy this. They will definitely be able to hear everything that you're playing. It has 2 or 3 surround sound settings along with 4 EQ settings that all sound fantastic. I listen to a lot of heavy metal and like to hear all the instruments clearly but still like to have a good measurement of bass to balance everything out. I found that the 'Classic' EQ setting fits my needs appropriately. I haven't listened to any rap with the system yet, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that it will POUND with whatever setting you decide to keep it at.
Construction: The system is 90% plastic construction and looks to be cheap when you glance at it. I fell victim to the same judgment, but was proven wrong once one of the 30 pound speakers fell 4 feet from my bed on to the floor during set up. Nothing happened to it at all, which brings me to my next observation. This system is HEAVY and pretty large. I wouldn't consider it "compact" by any means. As I stated earlier, the looks are very deceiving when you look at it. Cheap looking plastic all around, but make no mistake that this system is made like a tank. My only complaint is that there are tons of exposed screws all over the housing of the speakers which makes it look a tad unattractive.
Ease of use: Everything that this stereo has to offer is relatively easy to figure it out. I'm very electronically savvy so it only took me about 10 minutes to learn all the features without reading the manual. People with less knowledge may require a little more time to find all of the features that this system has to offer. Everything is clearly marked on the main unit so that manual navigation can be done quickly and easily. The remote control is a little unorganized, but isn't too much of a burden to navigate. Users that enjoy simplicity in such aspects may be annoyed by the remote navigation. The LED display is also extremely easy to read, which is very important to me.
Overall, if you are looking for an easy to use stereo that provides excellent sound quality in all aspects, don't look any further. These stereos were discontinued a few years ago and are hard to come by nowadays. If you stumble upon one at a good price, don't even hesitate for a second. Just buy it.
