The Lilipod is one of the most protective cases you can buy for your iPod. I'll review each part of the case separately:
1. The lanyard: It is 46'' long and has a cord lock. Very thick. I thought I wouldn't be using this too much but I find it convenient to wear the iPod around my neck, especially when I'm wearing pants that have no pockets.
2. The headphone jack: This is a rugged-use headphone jack! It's rubberized and is sturdily attached to the case. No loss of sound quality while using it.
3. The dual action belt clip: Perfectly attached to the case, won't fall off. Dual action because you can clip it to your clothes or you can use accessory belts if you feel like it.
4. Compression clamp and rubber o-ring: These things make the case watertight. I wouldn't mind if the clamp were a little bit thicker but it seems to be good enough to keep the case from opening and good enough to seal the stuff inside.
5. The case itself: It's a white shell, it's 2mm thick and will definitely protect your iPod from dust, sand, your pool, water sprinklers, spilled drinks, some hits, etc. The top part of the case kind of bumps against the edge of your iPod as you close it. I thought the iPod could get scratched because of it, but so far I don't think it has scratched my iPod. Looks good to me.
6. Foam inserts: They keep the iPod in place, making the case close fitting. Your iPod won't have much room to move inside the case and that's good.
I'd like to point out that this case fits my 3G 15GB iPod but it also fits 4G iPods and iPod photo. I slid my brother's 60 GB iPod photo inside the case and it fits perfectly too. Both iPods feel cozy and secure inside the case even though they differ considerably in thickness. This case in particular won't fit iPod mini though because the headphone jack on the mini is not positioned on the same place as the jack on the regular iPod.

(1 out of 5)Considering a Lilipod for your new Ipod: BUYER BEWARE!
If you are so foolish as to by a Lilipod for your new 30GB or 60GB Ipod, you will find that the Lilipod sucks donkey pud, it will not work with your unit, and Lilipod has just ripped you off for $40.
The Lilipod has an audio plug in the bottom of the unit. The idea is that as you insert your Ipod, the Ipod earphone jack fits snugly over the Lilipod audio plug.
Unfortunately, Lilipod conveniently fails to mention that the audio plug on the Lilipod does not match up with the audio jack on the new 30 & 60 GB Ipods. The Ipod will not fit in the unit. Congratulations. You just bought a worthless piece of plastic.
The Lilipod advertisements I have seen suggest that the unit is compatible with the latest generation Ipods. However, these advertisements fail to disclose that the Lilipod will NOT work with the new 30 & 60 GB Ipods. Is this fraud? The reader can make up his or her own mind.
Don't bother seeking an explanation from Lilipod. They refuse to respond to my emails.

but i just cannot. you cannot close this case without having your ipod scractched. according to the instruction, you need to push your ipod to the left to allow enough room for the top of the case to close. even when you push your ipod to the far left, the so called room you created is just enough that your ipod will still be scratched by the case. even worse, by pushing your ipod to the left, your ipod will go into the pause mode. you need to re-align your ipod and hit play again before the case closes, in order to hear the ipod audio.
a remote control would have solve the play/pause problem, but this item is not compatible with a remote control. once your ipod gets old, perhaps the scratches won't be as painful as when the ipod was new, but i am not sure if pushing your ipod far left with a audio connector plugged fully inside an ipod is a good idea in the long run.
besides the problems listed above. this case is fine and sturdy, and actually rather nice looking compare to most of the cases being sold on the market today.

Great idea but flawed construction I think - can't close it without the plastic top cruelly rubbing against the edge of the Ipod (promoting scratching)- to close the top you have to push the Ipod over with your hand which has the tendancy to upset the currently running controls - bottom line - engineers made it too small - strange they haven't seen fit to revise it. Also, the ipod goes in upside down and not right side up = go figure. If you're looking for something waterproof and user friendly, do yourself a flavor - spend the 35 or so bucks and get an Otterbox; 'nuff said.
