Buyer beware

(3 out of 5) by D. Schroeder on Nov 15, 2008 (Maybee, michigan USA)
Nowhere in the review does it mention that this item DOES NOT COME WITH A BATTERY. A 12 volt battery is $30 and an 18 volt battery is almost $50. I would not have purchased this item if I had known that. Also, it mentions a connection for an mp3 player but requires an adapter that did not come with mine and is not identified in the directions so another expense. It is very heavy and will be more so with the missing battery.

A FRESH REVIEW ON AN UPDATED PRODUCT...

(4 out of 5) by lithos_TECH on Sep 22, 2007 (Cleveland, OH USA)
I received my Bosch PB10 job site CD/radio a few days ago. It appears Bosch has resolved much, if not all, of the issues with reception that plagued others' experience noted previously.

Out of the box, plugged the unit in, raised the rubber whip-style antenna from the top, and powered it up. The digital tuner worked flawlessly, and after skimming the manual, programed 9 of my favorite FM channels; not noticing any channels that wouldn't "lock-into" immediately, even those closer to the bottom end of the frequency range.

CD/MP3 player worked great in both formats (CD-Audio and MP3 Audio). "Bosch Sound" EQ setting on this model makes a huge sound-quality difference in compare to other small radios. Many things can be plugged into this Bosch unit, and with exception of the not-yet-tested battery charger (I don't own any Bosch-brand rechargeable tools), all work well.

Hands down, this is the toughest, most versatile CD radio I've ever owned; and to give Bosch credit, is presently working well as expected from a quality brand. I'd given it 5 stars, but have yet to test it downtown (where buildings and rogue signals would give any radio a run for it's money).

Includes Remote, Now Advance

(5 out of 5) by T. Skidmore on Sep 19, 2006 (MN)
Disregard any complaints regarding this unless they are complaining about the Advance model. Amazon is now shipping the advance with remote. Great product and with stands a drop down the stairs. I don't really use the remote since it is more for the CD player and when I listen to a cd I just let it play all the way through, but I guess it is a nice option. Radio has worked great in the basement level apartments and I'm able to hear it through most work I do.

This is a little heavier than my small radio I am use to but, now I only carry this instead of my cell phone charger, radio, battery charger, and power strip. If I were to wish for another feature I would want it to be able to project wireless music in my ear protection.

poor sound, poor charger, poor CD player

(1 out of 5) by My Privacy Policy on Oct 12, 2006 (Chocoland)
This player skips more easily than any other player I own--if you have scratches on your CDs, prepare to be very annoyed. The sound quality is poor and it doesn't go loud enough to be heard over most power tools. The charger is a slow charger, not as good as a standard Bosch quick charger. By default it enters "bosch sound" mode, which you have to turn off to get the sound to be halfway decent, every time you turn the unit on. When you insert a CD into the unit, you have to wait like 10 seconds before you can hit "play" while it reads this disk. There is no way to control the treble/bass except for a few equalization modes, none of which sound that good. This is all around a poor product.

Good..... when it works

(2 out of 5) by M. Fee on Apr 11, 2006 (N Carolina)
First of all I do like this radio, when it works. I live and work in North Carolina, not the coldest place earth but apparently cold enough to cause my radio to never work when i leave it at the jobsite in my trailer. Even when its a little cold ie 45 degrees my radio will not turn on until it sits in the sun for half an hour and warms up. When i contacted the company they told me this was a common problem and there was nothing they could do for me. Wow thanks for selling me a jobsite radio that doesnt work on a jobsite. If you want a radio for a heated shop its nice, but if you work outside or any area that isn't heated DO NOT BUY THIS RADIO!
