Great cassette, great CD interface, radio ... not so good

I've had two of these. Being a retro guy, I like books on tape from my local library. Also record programs myself now and then. Tape player on this unit is very good. You can select tracks, repeat them, rewind time is quick.

I have the optional JVC 12-cd player in the trunk, which also will play MP3s, with the information displayed on this unit. VERY nice, and remarkable for a cassette unit. I play CDs mostly when I drive and have a book on CD lined up for a trip east later this year.

Now for the bad news: The radio sensitivity is abysmal. Local stations come in ... mostly. I can't get AM radio here in greater LA. I like my FM, but I wish the radio were better. Then we'd be talking 5 stars. If you listen to the radio mostly, pass on this unit. If like me, you go other routes, have at it. I like it a lot.

I think the system is great! Because I only had to replace the head unit and not the 12 disc changer I was able to save money and get a great sounding system for my vehicle.
