Wonderful cordless phone system
This system has many features that make it a great buy for the price. Two handsets--one for a room away from the base station. Answering system is included. Best of all the sound is crisp and clear which is enhanced by the built in speaker in each hand set. Even though my hearing is impaired, I can hear easily with these phones. The built in intercom is also a nice feature when it is time to be called for dinner. The capability of pre-programming 50 numbers also makes life easier. I do recommend these phones.

No Replacement Parts
I do like the phone. But I'm giving it a low rating because of VTech's policy regarding replacement parts. If anything fails, you must replace the whole phone. I'm just over the warranty period, and the small handset charger has stopped working. Everything else works fine. The answer seems simple -- just buy a new little handset charger. But you can't do that. I discovered that, because it's a dual handset phone, VTech's policy is to replace the whole thing, or replace nothing. So, unless I wish to purchase a whole new system, I'm stuck with one phone that can be charged and one that cannot.

Great phone for a reasonable price
I bought this system to replace two old and incompatible phones I previously used. The installation was trivial (including the voice mail setup) and everything worked perfectly. This system has great features like a speaker mode on the handsets and 3 separate voicemail boxes. And needless to say, reception is excellent even from the basement. Overall this is one of the best phones I've ever had and it was very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this product.

can't go wrong with the price
Bought these through Amazon for $80, which is much less than anywhere else and for a 5.8 GHz phone simply unheard of. I've been a longtime user of VTech phones, the last one lasted forever through thick and thin and finally got so old getting a new battery was cost prohibitive (more than five years old, people who think a battery should last that or longer are fooling themselves). I knew when I got a new phone VTech was the way to go, and the new ones do not disappoint. Loaded with features, caller ID, three mailboxes (only one of which I've used), great sound both from the speakers, using a headset, and from the answering machine. A REALLY cool feature is the speakerphone in EACH handset. Truly amazing! I've put people on speakerphone on my home office desk or in the livingroom and they cannot tell the difference. These little phones sound better than my office speakerphone, which sounds like you're on the can in a bathroom. My only gripe is the phone handsets themselves are small, almost cell phone small (not quite). I like something that feels like a phone, like my previous VTech phone, these feel too small but due to the fact the sound quality and quality overall is so good it's a minor gripe. These get a solid 5 stars!

Eh ... ok
I use my phones a lot and had high hopes for this product. It's ... ok. The battery lasts a bit longer than other phones I've used, but not as long as I'd like even when not in use. Also, after only a couple of months the bedroom extension decided not to let us answer calls on it. You can only call out on it. So each night I have to switch the main and bedroom extensions so we can answer emergency calls. I don't know why this happened, and the manual says nothing about it. You calso cannot turn off the base ringer, so when calls come in a cacophony of ringing fills the apartment.
The sound quality is great, even with Vonage. And I love the headset jacks. The buttons light up at night and there is an extensive address book. All positives, but not quite perfect, hence three stars.
