great cordless phone

Vtech is greedy for money
(3 out of 5) by MP on Aug 10, 2005 (New York)This phone used to come with rechargable "AAA" batteries that are cheap to replace. Now it comes with a proprietary Vtech "battery pack" that is much more costly. Lame! I will not buy more Vtech products.

(5 out of 5) by stewart L on Nov 1, 2005 (flushing ,ny)I OWN THIS PHONE SYSTEM AND BOUGHT SEVERAL AS HOLIDAY GIFTS.THE VOICE QUALITY IS VERY GOOD RECEPTION IS GOOD.I DID NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS OTHER REVIEWERS.I DO HAVE A TRIPPLITE SURGE PROTECTER IN MY PHONE SYSTEM.I DID GET A LITTLE HISS WHEN I BYPASSED,THE SURGE PROTECTER.THIS PHONE IS A LTTLE SENSITIVE TO STATIC ELECTRICITY. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM ?

Incompatible with my set-up or just static?

I don't know if this was a phone defect, incompatibility with my VOIP service, or interference from other devices in my home or adjacent apartments (though I don't own a router or other wireless products). I would not recommend this item. A 2.4 GHz phone by AT&T worked without any problems under the same conditions. Try that.

Watch out

for, broke.
I've had Vtech phones for a long time and found them superior. This time, they've changed the belt clip to not only have very sharp tines that dig into and tear clothing, but after only four months of use, the vicious clip has snapped and according to the 'customer service' line, can't be replaced as they are available only with the system at purchase. After a strong complaint to customer service, they offered to send me one when they might get one in their stock. These clips are apparently unavailable in the stores, although during my first questions to the service rep, I was told to go to the store to buy another. The belt clips of the older Vtech were a well designed, didn't tear clothing and were very sturdy, after years of use, still intact. This new one, after only four months is useless. If this feature is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere.
