holy cow this is the best
ok so youre looking for a home theater system to top off your big screen, dvd and whatever else you have and you think to your self the only way to get a nice sound and high volume is to get bose speakers and a 700 watt 7.1 system well youre wrong see this is the cheapest priced home theater system ive ever seen or heard that doesnt suck its great ill tell you this, this system is gonna give bose a run for its money it acctually sounds better than bose (just my opinion though) but ill tell you the subwoofer isnt much for super large rooms mainly because its passive (not powered)but i got to the store after i saw it in a magazine not expecting much and turned it on went through the menu to turn it to my sound preferences and it blew me away

Great system for the price
So this system is 420W and you don't expect performance of a 800W or 1000W system out of it. The sound does not blow your roof away, but is clear and loud enough for your living room. The depth and quality of the sound is great. Actually you can set a lot of parameters for the surround effect yourself to help the system decide for the optimal processing: you can set the angle of speaker in front of you, if they are on stands or low on the ground, the relative power of speakers individually so you always hear them in balance, and also the distance of each speaker from where you are centered. The system saves all of these in memory and takes them into account when producing surround effects.
Another good thing is about the different surround effects the system can create on your sound. The first one is called A.F.D. (Automatic Format Direct) that creates a surround effect from two channel stereo. It has three options for Dolby, movie and music sort of effects.
For movies it has three different settings to create feeling of a movie theater. One of them is meant for SciFi to emphasize sound effects and the other is for musicals to emphasize sound elements.
For music it has also three settings. "concert" setting simulates a classical concert sound. "Hall" sound simulates sound in a closed hall with effect of wall echos (it is really cool and sounds so natural) and "Jazz" to simulate a jazz club.
The only thing I have against this unit is its size. It is large and takes a lot of space on your shelf. If you want to stack your DVD player and VCR and everything else on top of each other, you need a really big shelf.
The unit comes with a digital coaxial cable, AM and FM antenas a remote. The remote is great but a bit confusing. It takes some time to get used to it. I think the same problem exists with all other home theater systems. having too many buttons on your remote is just part of a home theater system.

Amazing Value
After spending most of my money on my large screen tv I wanted a sound system to make it more theater like, but I didn't want to spend too much money. After waiting for a good sale on the top selling names, I happened to notice the Sony system without the dvd player and that appealed to me because I already have two dvd players. The salesman also gave this model a good review. You can't go wrong with this system. The sound is great and it was easy to integrate my existing vcr and dvd players.

Sony Home Theaters Rock!
The HT-DDW660 has excellent sound quality including digital cinema sound, which makes it sound like a movie theater. It has Dolby prologic, Dolby prologic II, Dolby Digital, and Digital DTS surround sound. My opinion is that Sony Speakers sound better than Boes speakers. It has 420 watts total system power. It has two analog inputs and a optical and coax digital input. This is all you need to transform your TV in to a complete home theater. I guarantee you will love it as much as I do!!!

A,mazing
When i first hooked it up and tested it, it sounded a little weak, but i went through the menus and everything was turned down, like the volume for the speakers and subwoofer, once i put it up the sound was amazing, the bass coming from the woofer seems like a 100 watt system rather than a 70. i reccommend this for any room small or large, you will not be dissapointed especially at this price.
