I got this system at Walmart 4 years ago for $189.00, when I was 15. My parents hated it. They would constantly complain that it was shaking the house too much and that they could never have peace and quiet when I was listening to music. Needless to say, I thought that was awesome! I keep seeing all these people complain on here that the shipping for warranty repair is so much and blah blah blah. But why do you think that is? It honestly scares me when a company's repair service is so smooth and easy because obviously they have to deal with their products breaking down more often. I've had this thing for freaking four years and it works exactly the same as the first time it powered on. My friends love it too. Actually, my best friend got one after listening to mine and his has been working the same way for three years. It's a quality product. Each 125 watt speaker contains a tweeter, a 4 in woofer, and a 4 in subwoofer. In addition there is a separate 150 watt subwoofer. If you like to blast your music like I do, get this Sony. The bass is incredible, and what I really like is that the mids and treble are crystal clear and the sound all mixes together perfectly. There are 8 preset eq's, and you can make 3 of your own. I use the aux input every day for my computer, video games, and dvds. There is incredibly low distortion as well. Turn the system up to 22 or 23 out of 30 on any mode and your ears will bleed to the powerful, tight sound. Also important to note: The subwoofer connection to the stereo is regular RCA, so you could get an RCA Y-adapter and hook up another powered subwoofer to the system. It would be absolute murder, but I've thought about it and the stereo ampifier could handle it. I dont know, you just have to listen to this system and play with it to get the full effect. It's five stars without a doubt.

dont waste your money
Bought first unit from Best Buy and it lasted 6 mos. Tried to replace it under service warranty because CD's skipped terribly on all CD's, new and used. BB didn't carry the unit anymore so I bought another at Walmart. It lasted about 12 months and the same problem occurred.
I like the sound for the money but the quality is very poor and it is consistent with the poor quality of Sony customer service. They said I should send it back to them, at great expense, and they would repair it. The last one I sent back to Best Buy cost them $69.00 in shipping.
Stay away from this unit.

Lasted almost 9 months!
Piece of cr@p!. Brought it to a local (SONY authorized service center who, after having it for 6+ weeks, called to say that they couldn't fix it and that SONY wouldn't send them the parts. They said that SONY wanted me to pick it up from the local service center and bring it to a UPS store to mail to them (for $> 25 shipping and handling). I emailed SONY to ask why they wouldn't authorize shipping directly from their authorized local service center. I got a canned response back (in under two minutes) that they didn't think they could resolve my issue by email. Obviously they have a natural language processing program (a computer program that trys to figure out what you want) that works about as well as this product. (Here's what they sent me: "We apologize for the difficulties you are experiencing. Unfortunately, based on the information in your letter we will be unable to resolve your issue through email. It appears that your product requires service. The location of our Sony service center, as well as any available local, Sony authorized, service centers, is available online at..." )
I replied to the email and got no response.
Since I didn't want my daughter to have to go another 6 weeks with a stereo in her room, I am going to call it loss and buy her another system today. And definitely not a SONY!!!!!!
