Great System
The sony MHCGX450 is a great system. It has very good clear sound and is the best Mini system i have every owned. I looked at 3 other systems with the same power or more and this one was the loudest and clearest. This system is a best buy.

Good Value, don't expect too much
Good basic system. The sound is reasonable without the equalization. The equalization is a little over the top; especially the "grove". The active subwoofer is OK, not overly enthusiastic. But again, it's an inexpensive system.
I used a satellite radio into the game port. It works very well. Unfortunately the port is on the front of the unit and hence there's wires running everywhere. But again, it's inexpensive.
The tuner seemed a little weak, at least with the piece of wire they included as the FM antenna. I have nothing to compare it to so maybe it's just location.
The sound volume is pretty good. I think the speakers and the amp are probably a little overdriven at high wattage but if you had planned on driving it that high you should buy a more expensive set up.
All in all it's pretty good considering the price.

Worth Every Penny!
I guess you could say I own the Sony MHC-GX450 3-Disc CD Shelf System by accident. I came home one night after a thunder storm, and found that my previous stereo system had been cooked by a lightning strike earlier in the day. So my search began for another high quality system. I bought and returned 2 stereo systems before finally discovering the Sony MHC-GX450 3-Disc CD Shelf System. I was not pleased at all with the previous systems I had tried, and I was hooked on the Sony system the minute I turned it on. The sound quality of the System is superb. Crisp, clear sound always fills the room. It doesn't matter if you will be using it for casual listening, at softer volume levels, or playing your favorite Rock CD's at higher volume levels with the bass subwoofer on. The sound quality is unmatched either way, with no distortion even if the volume is cranked to the limit.
It will make friends and family jealous of you. The overall appearance of the system allows it to fit in perfectly with any room environment or setting. It's classic silver, blue and black colors are perfect and stylish.
Setup is a piece of cake. It took me no more than 5 minutes start to finish to complete the setup of my system. Directions are very simple to follow and self-explanatory. The antenna is perfect length to be able to find the desired location in the room which will bring in the best signal possible. My system has performed with no problems at all, and I have owned my system for over a year now. To this day, I have not seen a better shelf system on the market in any of my local department stores than the Sony MHC-GX450 3-Disc CD Shelf System. A great investment, worth the money, and highly recommended by me!

i love my new stereo
This stereo is so awesome! I was looking at some ratings at other websites and sony's $400 stereo was getting way lower ratings than this one and they were saying that the sound quality is better than the 400 one. I've personally never heard better sound come out of any speaker in my life. The sub pumps up the volume and keeps me groovin', baby. Oh yeah, ah, this stereo is off the hook!! My brother's $500 sony stereo doesnt even sound as good as this one. YOu must buy it if you have $200 and any common sense at all.
A Killer System
I got this system at Walmart 4 years ago for $189.00, when I was 15. My parents hated it. They would constantly complain that it was shaking the house too much and that they could never have peace and quiet when I was listening to music. Needless to say, I thought that was awesome! I keep seeing all these people complain on here that the shipping for warranty repair is so much and blah blah blah. But why do you think that is? It honestly scares me when a company's repair service is so smooth and easy because obviously they have to deal with their products breaking down more often. I've had this thing for freaking four years and it works exactly the same as the first time it powered on. My friends love it too. Actually, my best friend got one after listening to mine and his has been working the same way for three years. It's a quality product. Each 125 watt speaker contains a tweeter, a 4 in woofer, and a 4 in subwoofer. In addition there is a separate 150 watt subwoofer. If you like to blast your music like I do, get this Sony. The bass is incredible, and what I really like is that the mids and treble are crystal clear and the sound all mixes together perfectly. There are 8 preset eq's, and you can make 3 of your own. I use the aux input every day for my computer, video games, and dvds. There is incredibly low distortion as well. Turn the system up to 22 or 23 out of 30 on any mode and your ears will bleed to the powerful, tight sound. Also important to note: The subwoofer connection to the stereo is regular RCA, so you could get an RCA Y-adapter and hook up another powered subwoofer to the system. It would be absolute murder, but I've thought about it and the stereo ampifier could handle it. I dont know, you just have to listen to this system and play with it to get the full effect. It's five stars without a doubt.
