Great Speakers for the price

Apr 20, 2004 - By AS (Dallas, TX)

I bought these speakers recently for my Dell PC. The power and clarity of sound is awesome. I like to listen my music loud and these provide ample loudness. The reason for not giving 5 stars is because there is some static in the speakers when the cellphone rings or when I switch on/off the other's room lights.
I have plugged it into a surge protector and kept the wires away from other electrical equipment, but still some disturbance persists. But it is not a big problem, because it only happens when the cellphone rings near the speakers.
These are definitely a great buy.

Pros:
1. Awesome sound. Good clarity and bass
2. Sleek looks
3. Goes perfect with Dell Flat LCD monitors. Even the silver matches with the Flat Panel's silver stand. The speakers are pretty might
4. Great buy for the price.

Cons:
1. Some static. But if you keep your cellphone far away, it is minimal

Small studio like's 'em

Jul 29, 2004 - By G. L Willow

I needed to replace some PC speakers and took a chance on how these would sound in my small home studio. It is one thing to mix through the headphones, but another just sit back and listen to speakers afterwards.

Nice quality sound for $50! I do not need to crank the volumn, but occassionaly you need to. Handles well for what I need them. More than appropriate for mp3's in an apartment. Good studio playback. They just simply sound good... Listening to them now ;)

Nice sound up to mid ranges but too much interference

Jan 15, 2005 - By John Montognese (MADISON, WI USA)

This is a very affordable, attractive pair of speakers that I bought for my new Dell. They aren't as loud as my old Altec Lansing's, which were actually THX certified but went with the old PC. However, the middle range sounds are very clear and crisp and the bass is more than can be expected in this price range.

The real problem is the interference I get. I think it's from my neighbor's TV. Anyway, what sounds like a TV station comes through the left satellite very faintly. Which means I have to turn my volume up higher to make sure I hear only my music. It's not ideal so I'm probably going to take them back.

However, if I didn't get interference they would probably be a delightful set of speakers for most computers. I'm going to cough up the $150 and get a 2.1 set of Klipsch instead.

awesome clarity, deep bass, no static

Aug 3, 2005 - By Denis (NJ, USA)

I was surprised at all the reviews here mentioning static. I get absolutely no static interference with these, even with my cell phone, a few monitors, and a microwave nearby. The sound is absolutely crisp and clear - you could hear a pin drop with these. The midrange is rich. The bass is surprisingly deep and powerful. I was impressed with what such small speakers at such low price can output in terms of bass and sound clarity. I use these as my desktop speakers. They respond noticeably well to the Equalizers in XMMS/Winamp when you play MP3's. The SFX (sound field Xpander) effect is adds to really good surround-sound quality. All in all, this is 50 bucks very well spent. The speakers also take up very little space and have simple flat tilted design that's pleasing (or at least not irritating or distracting) to the eyes.

There's a bunch of people complaining of cell phone interferences with these speakers. I believe this is a cell phone issue rather than the speaker issue. If you get a lot of interference from your cell phones on these speakers, imagine what kind of interferences your brain is having to deal with when you use your cell phone daily, especially since it's not even shielded unlike your speakers!! Change the phone or the provider or both.

for the price, you can't beat em

Jan 10, 2006 - By Tennessee Jed (Florida)

I wanted a inexpensive three piece for work. These fit the ticket. The High end is very detailed. The low end is a bit too mid bass heavy, but if you eq the bass, they sound very good. I have the best 2.1 system money can buy and I spent $300 for those. I spent $40 for these. To compare, the Klipsch are a 10. These are a seven.
