About a year ago I built my dream machine and when looking around for a monitor I stumbled upon this beauty. I love the sleek Art Deco-esque design and it went well with my desk. (not to mention my geforce 7800GTX) after using it for about 3 days I came to the conclusion that if I had another DVI port on my graphics card I might as well put it to use so I purchased another of these monitors. For anyone out there with a dual head graphics card let me say that there is nothing more functional (nor "cooler looking") than two of these babies on your desktop and with a native 1280 x 1024 resolution, everything on your PC (or mac) desktop will look better too.
Unprecedented quality
Amazing, truly amazing. This monitor is the greatest LCD I have ever seen. I needed to replace my CRT with an LCD because the radiation coming off of the CRT gave me constant headaches. I was reluctant to switch to an LCD though because I heard that their color saturation and image quality was far inferior to "tubes". The LG Flatron L1720P was a pretty expensive monitor when I bought it but I just couldnt believe how great its image looked. I would recommend the LG Flatron L1720P to anyone, even someone looking for a CRT monitor.

LG was $70 cheaper than a Sony of equal quality!
I recieved a $200 gift card for Best Buy for Christmas. I also got many new computer games. The CRT 17" monitor I had at the time made me take breaks from playing every 20 min. due to the strain on my eyes. So later Christmas week I went to Best Buy and a Sony LCD "17 monitor caught my eye. The Sony had a $400 price tag. As I was walking to the checkout desk I spotted an equal quality monitor for $330. That monitor was the LG LCD 17". I was skeptical of the brand, so I asked an employee about the brand. He told me that it had an excellent reputation and made extremely high quality products. So I got a high quality monitor $70 cheaper. This monitor really got you ready for the future with the DVI port. I found the ESB ports on the back very handy for putting my keyboard and mouse in. I was amazed by the quality of the picture. This is the best LCD 17" out there.

Excellent LCD
Similar to a previous review, I purchased this at Best Buy and am very pleased with it. I had the store hook one up to a PC instead of the normal monitor display as the signal is VERY bad due to extension cables and splitting. The visual appearance of the monitor is good, very bright colors, built in USB, etc. The inclusing of a DVI connector is nice as well, and it has a source button so you could run two machines to one monitor if so desired. Price is great for the quality of the monitor.
As mentioned before, the base could be better. It can shake a bit when typing or heavy gaming. It is the only complaint I can find about this monitor, and the only item keeping it from 5 stars in my book. I considered a similar featured NEC and Samsung monitor, but found the NEC to have a horrible glare due to its protective covering, and the Samsung has sub-par color.

Excellent product
I was skeptical about getting an LCD for gaming, but my CRT was making my eyes tired so I figured it was time for a change. I did a ton of research and read many, many reviews in magazines(like Maximum PC) and online. I was all set to order a Samsung 172X with 12ms response time, when I came across the L1720P on sale at Best Buy. tHE 16ms repsone time and good LG reputation caught my attention. Unfortunately, the store display model didn't look very good because they split a video signal for the demonstration display, so I went home and did research on it. I found only positive information online for the 1720P. So, knowing that I had 14 days to return it to best buy, I bought the 1720P, unsure about how it would perform. Well, I have to tell you, it surpassed my expectations. The Lightview feature that automatically adjusts brightness and contrast is awesome, and the 16ms response time makes ghosting in games undetectable. I seriously could not see any ghosting in Far Cry single player and Call of Duty multiplayer. I tested these games on a radeon 9800 pro and a radeon 9600 XT both using the DVI connector. I've heard ghosting can occur more on the VGA connecition than the DVI, but I can't confirm that.
The only complaint I have is that the monitor stand could be more stable. The monitor tends to shake when there is vibration on my desk from playing a game or doing alot of typing. It's not severe shaking, but at times it can be noticeable.
