Great product for an iPod!

(5 out of 5) by Dieter on Jan 8, 2004
Well if people are looking for a lightning fast reader for their memory cards, get a USB2 reader for your computer. This is an iPod! The fact that this thing can read media cards and put all my files onto my iPod, my pictures, homework, whatever, and transfer them between my Tungsten T palm pilot SD card expansion slot is awesome! I would have no trouble reccomending this media reader to others who want FUNCTIONALITY not a card reading rocketship.

Doesn't Work with 2G SD Memory Card

(1 out of 5) by Lumpia07 on Sep 13, 2006 (San Jose, CA USA)
It doesn't work with SD Ultra II 2.0 GB memory card and Belkin technician said that it shouldn't work with anything more than 1GB.

Does what it Says and Says what it Does

(5 out of 5) by M. Pierce on Aug 16, 2004 (SLC, UT USA)
Quick Recap:
-This device is not as fast as a USB 2.0 reader to a computer.
-This device DOES let you transfer almost any file from number of media cards to your IPod.

An IPod is not a long term storage solution for digital photos or other files. It does, however, do a great job of providing a short-term storage solution for times when you don't want to lug around a computer or can't rely on access to one. Ideal for trips and other times when you might need quick access to more storage (taking photos at an event, etc).

Altogether a great idea. It isn't perfect, but it doesn't need to be.

BEWARE - not as advertised

(1 out of 5) by Michael Brown on May 22, 2009 (Ithaca, NY USA)
This product is NOT as it is described. Although the listing says it works with all iPods through 6G, Touch, Nano, etc. this is not true. The product ONLY works with old-style iPods which (a) use a docking connector and (b) use the FIREWIRE interface - NOT USB. All iPods sold for many years use USB, and are thus not compatible. I have called Belkin support and they confirmed this. I am now trying to return the product.

Can't give it Zero Stars

(1 out of 5) by Michal Hathaway on Jun 8, 2007 (Midwest)
I can't give it zero stars, but would if I could - for reasons listed elsewhere here. Belkin said nothing about the limitations of their product. I bought it a year ago for a trip using a camera with 512 MB cards. It actually worked ok, providing the iPod battery was fully charged. Now I have a 10MPXL camera with 2 GB SD cards and I'm out of luck. Can say that I'm happy that I bought my Media Reader for only 15.95 from JR. That kind of markdown should tell you something. If I'd paid anymore I'd be really mad. Shame Belkin.
