Great Bass, Great Package

(5 out of 5) by M. Arens on Oct 31, 2003 (Redwood Shores, CA United States)
I paired the TSS 450 with the new Harman/Kardon AVR230 (Which I highly reccommend, even though Amazon is not offering it yet). They provide great (and plentiful) wiring, which is atypical of $400 speakers. They come with adjustable mounting brackets, another plus that most other systems dont have. They are tiny surrounds (think soup can, though wider) and sound very crisp. I've only had them a little while, but they sound perfect listening to Lords of the Rings or playing PS2! The center channel is powerful and super-clear. This is my first surround system, so i'm shocked at how much better I can here voices during movies! The other thing I like is the Center has two-midranges and is positioned horizontally, which makes it fit much better on top of my WEGA :-)

Perfect for smaller rooms

(4 out of 5) by James B. Charles on Nov 8, 2006 (New Jersey)
I bought this system for my living room in a 2 bedroom condo. I paired it with an Onkyo TX-SR604.

The speakers sound very natural, and sub/satellite responses are well matched and almost seamless. The satellites have a very crisp, well rounded sound and acutally have a decent amount of mid to upper midrange, which wasn't what I expected from such small speakers. They have more treble than you'll know what to do with, so don't bother boosting the high eq. The center channel speaker can sometimes sound a tiny bit honky in the upper mids. But for their size and price, they are pretty accurate.

It is not a giant booming sub, which wasn't what I wanted anyway, I don't need any annoyed neighbors. The response is very musical when the level is set at 35-50%. If you want booming explosions, you can crank the thing, but that isn't really where the unit shines.

The sound with movies is very, very pleasing. The experience of watching a movie is completely different. The sound that comes from the speakers is immersive, transparent, and accurate, which allows you to experience the visuals in a whole new way. You may as well be in the room with the actors.

Stereo sound through the speakers was equally pleasing. There is a lack of high bass to low mids, which is to be expected with a system like this, but overall the sonic character is excellent.

Awsome !!!

(5 out of 5) by Francisco Reyes on May 4, 2007 (Santiago. Domincan Republic)
I plugged this Speaker System into a Yamaha HTR-5930SL Receiver. Couldn't be more happy. The speakers sounds great and looks very good in my entertainment room. They came with wall mounting brackets and decent cables (altough you can use better cables). The satellite speakers are small, heavy and good looking... a great combination. I've got to buy more movies to keep enjoying this great sound !.

Don't want to be a hater, but...

(3 out of 5) by J. J. Villarreal on Dec 5, 2007 (San Antonio, Tx United States)
Bought these on the opinion of others, and what seemed like a really good deal. Heard the comments about good bang for the buck, perfect for the basement/den, etc. etc. Was looking for a relatively inexpensive starter home theatre system.

Teamed it with a 200 dollar yamaha, 5.1 receiver, nothing to expensive, but felt like it would get the job done. Open it, set it up, turned it on and a certain amount of disasppointment set in. Wasn't really getting the lower mid range like I enjoy. Subwoofer gets it done, and system picks up the highs, and mid highs really well. But it had an almost hollow metallic sound to it. Adjusted what I could on the receiver, but was never really totally satisfied.

So now I've turned to plan b, I am now in the process of replacing the front 2 satelite speakers with floor speakers, jbl 6 inch, 3 way. This has improved the overall sound very well. Possibly near future will replace the center channel and rear surrounds, possibly polks or sony, 4 or five inch. I'm guessing this would give me the balance and clarity that I am looking for. Seems like I have ended up going the long way to get the sound I wanted.

Just felt like I was missing to much of the mid, lower mid sound. Didn't seem real balanced, and the treble almosted seemed piercing at times, even after adjustments on the receiver. Hope you find these comments helpful.

Good system

(5 out of 5) by Chris M, on Jan 22, 2007
I surprised my husband with this speaker set. He really likes it for our small family room. It is clear and sounds great! He said the subwoofer is worth what I paid for the whole system.
