Cannot Recommend

(2 out of 5) by Zefrau on Oct 11, 2006 (Newport News, VA)
I've had this phone for a couple of years, and although the sound quality was not great even in the beginning, I was initially pleased. Soon, however, the number buttons started acting up. You usually have to press the On button and a couple of the number buttons, like the 6, two or three times before they will work, which causes some frustration.

I do like the intercom function and use it to call other handsets in the house, but since this is a feature you can get on all of these kinds of expandable phone systems, it isn't enough to tempt me to buy another.

I say "buy another" because I was on Amazon searching for a replacement for this phone and stumbled upon this one I already own. I rarely write reviews on Amazon but felt strongly enough about this product that I wanted to warn others to spend their money elsewhere.

Pros
Great speaker phone, screen, menu system.

Cons
Answering machine can only be accessed via the base.

The Bottom Line
I would not go with any other phone. Nice price for a lot of features.

This is a great phone. I love the great quality speaker-phone. People usually can't tell. It has various rings you can setup differently for each phone. You can also assign a custom name to each phone. The back light on the phone works also works good. The phone is easy to make calls from the caller id. Only problem is that it doesn't know to add a "1" for long distance calls. Sound quality is great out of the normal ear speaker of the phone and speaker-phone. You don't need to stress your voice and yell for the other side to hear you as you do with other brand phones. The three mailboxes are good for those who have multiple people in the house that want their own box. The system has a built in phone book which you can assign names to and look them up like you do with cell phones. One additional nice feature about the phone i like is that the phone book is stored on the base so if you add a phone number using one phone, they other second phone shows that number as well in its phone book. Its also nice to have its Redial which includes the last 5 calls you made. The intercom feature allows you to call between the two phones at any time. The page feature works just as any other remote phone works. The second phone does not need to be near a phone jack which is VERY nice. It just needs to be around a power outlet to charge it when its in the base.

What an absolute waste!!

(1 out of 5) by L. Gilbert on May 20, 2006
I bought it and it didn't last more than a year. The Buttons don't work on either handset- they wear down and that's it. After hanging up on so many friends it was time to trash this phone. My three year old tossed it with a smile. Don't waste your money on this product- look at all of the other reviews

If I could rate this zero stars I would

This is the worst phone I have ever owned, and I've had some doozies. The reception for the most part is good, no problems with the answering machine. We bought this over a year ago, and the first conversation I had on it the person on the other end complained about the "beeping". I don't hear anything...just cuts out. It recently started hanging up on me as well. The number pads on both handsets do not work, you have to keep pressing, and pray that only one number will register. I should have brought it back the moment I plugged it in, but hoped it would get better. We spent more than a hundered dollars on it, as we purchased the one with two handsets. BIG MISTAKE!! Do NOT waste your money! I will never purchase anything with AT&T on it again!!

This phone stinks!

I have this model. Glad to see that I am not the only one with trouble. Beeps during the calls all the time ... actually cuts the voice out. Can't dial either. Press the button many times before the number registers, ... then get the number twice like a double beep. Piece of junk - don't buy. Same sediments as the others here.
