Exactly what I needed

My DVD player in my laptop went out and the laptop manufacturer wanted $450 for an in-case proprietary replacement. I use the DVD player a lot on the plane and unless I'm in first class, don't have power. This one runs off the USB power. It's very slim and not bulky. Just what I needed. I only have one question. Why don't they sell this thing in computer retail stores. It's a winner!

Compact and useful

Absolutley reliable, perfect XP compatibility, and the USB connection makes it so easy -- no extra power cords.

Using in 60 seconds

I received the drive in 2 days from Amazon, and from the time I opened the Targus box, I was installing turbotax in less than 60 seconds! The product works as advertised with no hassles at all. Strongly recommend.

Portable USB CD/DVD drive. Works as advertised.

I have an "ultra portable" ThinkPad X60. The DVD only comes with the docking station. This product fills the gap so I can access CD and DVD drives when traveling without adding a lot of weight to my backpack. It consists of the drive and a special cable that plugs into two USB ports to draw the power necessary to operate, quite clever IMHO. And one of them is a pass thru so you only "lose" one port.
