Great photo quality!!
I was worried about spending 500.00 for a printer, which I knew nothing about, but after reading reviews on Google.com I felt comfortable about doing it. The quality comes out great. You can't go wrong with getting this printer. One thing I did notice, it left a scratch on my prints, when I printed 4X6 images. I have not had a chance to see if it was a one time fluke or what. I'm waiting for more paper to arrive.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER! POOR REPAIR SERVICE!
I bought the printer 6 months ago and after a few months of great pictures there was a white line that developed on the
pictures. I had a 1 year warranty to get it repaired and so I sent it to the Olympus Repair Service via mail in great condition. It only had an internal problem. A few weeks later
the repair center sent me a letter stating that the product's mode dial was broken off, the front CVR cracked, the front door cracked, back cover broken, dented in back. That was completely wrong! It was in fair condtion when the printer was sent there to NY to have it repaired. I rate their service zero stars! I recommend not to buy this product. It was a simple repair that turned into a nightmare. It costed $230.00 to get it repaired. I spent $299.99 for that printer. The company Olympus is a rip-off!
I wouldn't buy there products! 1 year warranty! That is so untrue!

Great Photo DyeSub Printer - Highly Recommended!
The Olympus P-440 Photo Printer produces fantastic 8"x10" Photo Dye Sublimation prints. We have produced several hundred prints with this printer over the past 5 years and never had any problems at all. Since this is an older printer, be sure to read the specks if you are in the market for one of these to be sure your computer can support the drivers or you can find a SmartMedia card or PCMCIA adapter for your card. It is also fussy about the size and encoding of jpg files.
One other thing to note, this is a huge printer that is fairly heavy and tall when the paper tray is installed.
It is fun to watch as the printer lays down the three colors on the page and then makes a fourth pass to put on the protective coating.
Highly Recommended if you have a source for the consumables.

One of the best buys I've ever made
I owned the P400 prior to the P440 and I bought the P440 for true 8x10" prints since the P440 produced slightly smaller prints. I have used both printers for hundreds of 8x10" prints (400 to one customer and 150 to another plus hundreds of individual 8x10 prints and thousands of business card size photo magnets with zero problems. These prints were sold on eBay and the internet and not one person has complained about the quality of the prints and in fact they heap praise on them. Of course I've never dropped either printer to damage them but that's normal. The prints last forever, even when exposed to water which you can't do with other type prints.
