Fast Color Laser

(4 out of 5) by M. Gentry on Feb 25, 2004 (Fort Worth, Texas United States)
Just purchased this unit to print postcards on heavy stock paper, two sided. Works great on Win 2000/XP and terrible on Win98 across network. Prints photos FAST and very sharp. 500 sheet feeder hangs occasionally with heavy paper, multi feed slot pulls card stock through flawlessly. I don't expect many problems with a $2000 printer and didn't find many other than the Win98 problem and the cost of replacement toners, $450 for all 4 toners. Duplex feature is oddly buried in the printer properties dialog box, almost impossible to find, you'd think since the duplex feature is what sets this model apart from the other magicolor unit Minolta might make it easier to use. I don't have any experiences with other color lasers so your mileage could vary.

Costly Printer over the long run

(2 out of 5) by MJC on Apr 9, 2009 (Chicago)
We purchased two. We have been happy with the print quality in black & white. The two machines color printing is good enough for us, but printing the same color document on both machines shows noticeable differences in the output between the two units.

Toner is very expensive for these machines on a per/page basis. Also, it regularly displays messages that we need to spend another $[...]ish for imaging units, fuser units, etc. It seems never ending with this machine. "Another $[...] bucks...."

The are fast and the double sided printing is nice. They are not quiet. It is disturbing when on the phone.
