Horrid
The only thing more horrible then the quality of this scale is the quality of HoMedics customer service. When this scale broke after less then a month of (inaccurate) usage, I requested a simple replacement part be sent. They refused, stating that if I sent the scale back to them, they *might* send me a replacement one -- but only IF I paid the S&H both ways. Uh, NO! It would've cost me a small fortune to ship that terrible scale both ways (when all that was needed was a tiny little piece to reconnect their crappy wiring).
The scale went into the trash -- and HoMedics lost a customer for life.

VERY inaccurate
It worked well for a few months then started weighing light by a larger and larger amount as time passed. As of last week I weighed 225 lb at my doctors office and the SC-403 showed that I weighed 173 lb!
Clear read, sleek design
Easy to use. Some variation in weight reading. I get on the scale three times and take the average.
It's attractive, but inaccurate
I bought this scale in Jan. coinciding with a New Year's resolution for wt loss. It is attractive and worked well at first. All of a sudden, overnight, I gained 15 lbs. Had my husband step on and it was the same thing. So, for the price, 4 months of usage is not worth it. I am EXTREMELY disappointed and will be purchasing another scale - as you can imagine, nothing from Homedics. What a dud!
nice design, seems accurate
I bought this scale in Aug, 2007, because I found its looks very appealing. Also like the large, easy-to-read digits and that you can change the pounds (switch on the back) to kilograms.
I was surprised at the other reviewers' comments about its inaccuracy. My experience is the opposite. Now that I'm pregnant, I have a reason to weigh myself regularly, and it seems to have been correct. No matter how many times or how many different ways I try to step on it, it gives the same results. Just tested it with some dumbells: 3+4+5 lbs. I weighed them (together) several times, always showed 12.2 lbs. Well, at least it's consistent. I don't really care about a smaller than 1.5 lbs variance, anyway - I can easily gain/lose that much with dinner/exercise :) I update my review when I get to be heavier (vs 104)... to see if it's still accurate.
The reasons I gave it 4 stars: it was a bit pricey for one. Second, I don't know who dropped what on this, but it got scratched up a little bit in that middle metal part. Just have to be a bit careful around it.
