My dentist and I are both pleased
Despite the negative reviews for the rechargeable Water Pik, I tried it because it was rechargeable and had a slightly larger water reservoir than the Panasonic. They were right, I was wrong. The Water Pik's pressure fluctuated wildly, and the battery died after about 4 months. The Panasonic works beautifully. Pressure is higher, it's quieter and more compact. I use Ni-Mh batteries and recharge once a week. So far it's all pro and no con.

Best Portable Irrigator on the market
I tried another brand and was very disappointed, but the Panasonic is great. It is very portable, but I just wanted something small for my bathroom shelf. It is easy to use and I like the fact that it doesn't have to be plugged into the wall outlet. It has great battery life, and is still going on the same batteries after 3 weeks. I also recommend rechargeable batteries. I don't think I'd ever want to irrigate my teeth for 20 min at a time anyway, but what is that about?

Great product!
This is the second irrigator like this that I've bought. My teen with braces needed the one my husband and I had been using for the last year. I really missed it- my gums did, too, so I ordered another one. It works great. I never floss and still get great checkups from my hygienist.

panasonic dental irrigator EW1270 AC
A very good product that does the job well. I have been using it for more than 2 months and it cleans my teeth well. At first I made a mess with water all over the sink, but I have managed much better now. The unit is very convenient to pack for traveling, however, the batteries run out pretty fast but I overcame the problem by using rechargeable NiMh batteries. The water tank is small but I don't mind to fill up the tank again, it just takes a few seconds.

reliable for travel
I just got back from 16 days in the UK. I bought the Panasonic EW 1270 for this and other upcoming trips after reading the reviews and deciding against the Waterpik portable (because of reports of battery usage).
I never had to change batteries during my trip. This product was completely reliable and performed well. Yes, you will run out of water if you are not quick and what's the big deal about filling the well again? One point: the pictures are taken from a side angle so it looks smaller than it really is - 2.5x6x1.5 or so. It also has enough weight to make a backpacker think twice about carrying it on a trek.
If you are looking for something to take with you traveling, I recommend this item. - Kathy in CA
