Okay for the price

(3 out of 5) by smlum on Sep 20, 2004 (Honolulu HI)
I originally tried to order these speakers from Circuit City through Amazon using in store pick up, but the Honolulu store was always out of stock. I was able to pick it up from a small electronic store.

I bought these speakers based on the reviews here and on CC.I was a little disappointed with the speakers because I had high expectations after reading all the reviews. I have a laptop that has 3 speakers that provides very good sound. However, I was worried about damaging them if I had them up too high. The Panasonic can be cranked up because they'll use batteries as a power source. Unfortunately, they hardly have any bass range. They're convenient because you can fold them in half for storage, but the cord that plugs into the headphone jack is only 20 inches. It could use another 4 to 6 inches. I can't agree with all the raving reviews on these speakers.

Sony's speakers are about $40 and Creative Labs' are $50. I haven't tried those speakers so I can't comment on them. I guess the Panasonic's $30 makes it an okay buy but don't expect boom box quality.

Great for the price

I love these speakers. Like several people have mentioned, I wish they would have come with an a/c adapter, even if it cost a little more. I have purchased several other speaker options at twice the price and these are better than any of the others I have tried. I would definately recommend these speakers and a good set of rechargable batteries. I am looking to buy an a/c adapter but am uncertain as to what I should get.

Great small speakers!

(5 out of 5) by Tom Jones on Feb 3, 2007 (Greenbelt, MD USA)
I bought these to go with my iRiver MP3 player, and they're superb! When the switch is in the off position, you can use them as passive speakers--meaning that they don't use the speaker batteries, but you have to turn up the volume on your source all the way. This is great option if you have a rechargeable player and need only moderate volume. When you do use the speaker power, you can turn it up quite loud for such small speakers. This is a great set of speakers, and a total bargain; I'd have paid $40 for them. The only downside is that there doesn't seem to be a power supply available to plug them in--so you'll go through batteries if you want it loud.

I will buy more of these.

My brother got these for me a few years ago, and I think they're perfect.

My dad saves old power adapters, so thankfully I was able to solder together my own for this set of speakers, and I use them all the time. They are my standard laptop speakers, but they're great if you've got an mp3 player and want to take your music almost anywhere. I've brought them on a cruise, camping, to the beach, and they were a big help when I was out tabling on the main plaza at my school.

They do have a buit of white noise when on, but it doesn't bother me a bit, and I think they're perfect for what they are. I will be buying another set of them as a backup or just for extras.

Excellent Purchase

(4 out of 5) by T. Foster on Nov 2, 2006 (Boston, MA)
I bought this product after reading all the great reviews about it, and I was not disappointed! The sound on these speakers is great. It's obviously not like you're carrying around a mini Bose stereo system, so don't expect that, but the sound quality is very good, and much stronger than all the other portable speakers to which I've listened. The size is perfect; fold them into a little square or keep them unfolded, and they fit perfectly in a backpack or purse. A wonderful product for this price.
