Great speakers at a great price!
I recently bought these speakers to play mp3 files from both my laptop and portable mp3 player. I was looking for something small with good sound quality. I'm very pleased with these so far. As for any complaints, they do have a short cord, but it seems adequate for most uses and I prefer it to the cords of many things I've had that have had cords that were much too long. It can also be convieniently and securely wrapped up in the back of the speakers, which makes for neat and tangle-free travel. I also find that the speakers are prone to tipping over, but this is easily remedied in their foldability, as this enables the speakers to form their own tripod if necessary. All in all, I'm very pleased, as these seem to be precisely what I was looking for and at a great price.

Excellent sound quality and they are loud
I have been backpacking through Central America for the last 5 months. These speakers fold up small and take little space in my backpack. They are very loud and have great sound quality. I use them with my iPod. I have listened to many other people play their music on different speakers, some of them costing over $100 and they do not sound as good as these. These take AA size batteries which last longer than AAA batteries for the same price. People always compliment me on the sound quality of these speakers.

Excellent portables for powerless operation.
I purchased these speakers for watching DVDs on my laptop while travelling.
Though I haven't had the opportunity to compare these to other portable speakers, I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. These little speakers produce quality sound with no amplification (and therefore no plug-in or batteries). I just connect them directly to my laptop's headphone port, set the amplification switch to "off/direct", and they're ready.
Don't mistake me; these little speakers will not suffice for in-home entertainment. The bass is distorted and the mid-range is watered-down. That being said, these are still more than satisfactory for watching a DVD or whatnot on your laptop.
Pros:
Portability. Not the smallest available, but easily small enough for your luggage (about the size of four decks of playing cards).
Power. They don't need any. You can insert batteries or attach an AC adaptor if you want, but mine produce acceptable sound with no amplification at all.
Cheap. For $30, it's hard to complain.
Cons:
No USB connection for the amp. This isn't much of a gripe, considering these speakers are fine with no amp, but for those who want portable amplification, it would have been nice of Panasonic to include a USB connection.
Sound quality. Bass and mid-range are crap compared to any decent home speakers. That being said, I imagine they're just as good or better than the competition in portable speakers.

Very large size for travel and mediocre sound
I have several pairs of portable speakers for my laptop but forgot to bring them on a recent trip and bought these based on the glowing reviews posted here. However, when I received the speakers I found that they are much larger in size and much lower in both quality of build and quality of sound than for example the Creative speakers. They have a huge and unstable footprint when opened (about 9 inches long and one inch deep) and are not particularly compact when folded either. The sound is not rich and they eat batteries amazingly fast, then begin to buzz. I do not recommend these speakers.

Small package, Great sound!
I received these speakers today, put in the batteries, and WOW! I've had a few portable speakers but the volume and sound quality from these beats them all, hands down. I can now listen to my PDA audiobooks in style. I also plan to use it to take along on trips to get better sound from my laptop while playing movies.
