800K is enough.
(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 11, 2003Need clip art? Then get this. It has nearly everything it seems. I searched for "cabinet" and there were an amazing amount of cabinets. It is just a wonderful set of art for a small price. People who do web design will love this product. The search engine is pretty good. I needed to download the patch though, since the search engine kept crashing.

Good solid collection on DVD
(5 out of 5) by S. Rider on Oct 17, 2003 (Chicago area)This may be the only collection a smaller designer or hobbyist may ever need, as it's so dang HUGE. The interface is pretty good for searching through this monster, and automates the easy export to a wide variety of formats for various uses.
It's important to note that despite the "media" statement at the top of this page, this is on DVD, not CD-ROM; which is a good thing, as the 30GB of pictures would take up nearly 50 CDs, weight a ton, and need a much bigger box!

Frustrating!

So if you need an image, you have to use their dvd search engine. While this will find you the images you need, I find it completely exhausting going through 1000's of images while clicking and clicking and clicking image by image. And they are so small. The only way you can view it larger is if you insert the particular DVD that the image is on, and there are 7 DVD's. So I end up putting in one, then the other, etc. I find that it's much easier to look through an actual book so you can just browse through with ease. I'll never purchase another image collection without the printed book!

Whatever You Need

I bought this collection after switching from PC to Mac. Previously, I'd used the Hemera Big Box of Art 350,000 for Windows, and bought this product based on my previous experience with the brand. That's it's on DVD makes it an even bigger plus, because there's only 8 DVDs to content with. If you work from a laptop, and move around alot, it's great because it's compact and easy to take with you.
This is my third set of clip art, and none of them had a printed book, so I can't speak to whether that's easier or better. I find it fairly easy to use the browser to search for graphics, and exporting them to work with couldn't be easier.
I gave it four stars because at first I had a little trouble getting the browser to detect the collection, but then I scanned for the collection and it worked.
If you can't find it online or from the manufacturer, you should try ebay. It might end up being the only collection of clip art you'll need.
