Best Value and an Excellent Rack
I began my search for a rack by visiting the major electronics outlets in town. Prices ranged from about $150 to about $300. Most of the floor displays were a mess, with chipped and cracked and scratched materials and other damage of various sorts. The materials themselves were very low quality. In most of the cases, the design was completely unrelated to any consideration of the fact that this was an AUDIO rack. So I went to the high-end audio shop, and I found a well-built rack for $550--well beyond my budget.
After spending yet more time reading online reviews of racks for sale online, I settled on the Studiotech HF-4BII from Amazon: $170 shipped. I received it on my porch in less than a week. Assembly took some focus, and directions were minimal, but there were absolutely no difficulties, and the entire unpack and assembly and clean-up probably took less than an hour. This rack was designed for DIY assembly, and designed very well.
Appearance is excellent. I have the solid black model, and this helps the rack to disappear into the room. When it does catch the eye, it projects a very tasteful and solid presence. Functionally, it is perfectly stable and reliable. It appears to be made with genuine MDF, which is good for stopping resonance. If I were to make any changes, I would build in even a little more isolation between the shelves and the metal supports. There is some modest cable-management built-in, which I found helpful. Studiotech also includes rear panels to enclose the back, but I left these off for the sake of better air circulation and cooler components. My components, by the way, fit perfectly. A big 30 lb amplifier on bottom, and a fairly large pre-amp above that. A CD player next up. A turntable on top.
This rack is easily superior to anything I was able to find in the electronics outlets, and functionally--though not in appearance or materials or build --as good as what I found in the high end store for $550. Excellent purchase. I have absolutely no regrets. I do have a sense of satisfaction. Kudos to Studiotech and Amazon.

Solid product
After looking all over the web at grossly overpriced A/V racks, I finally found this gem. Solid, stable shelves, simple construction with very small number of parts and carpet spikes are included. I, like another reviewer, did not attach the back covers behind the shelves, mainly because I wanted maximum ventilation. It fits all of my components, including a huge Emotiva LPA-1 amp (though it does hang a bit out the back). Width is not a problem, though like I said, the amp is just a hair too long. I couldn't be happier with this product, especially at the price. It does its job and looks good to boot.

Good Price, Looks Sharp, Minor Quality Issue
Aside from a stripped thread, this shelf system is very nice looking and functional. The build materials are made of high quality steel and painted MDF. Dimensions and configuration are suitable for an average a/v component mix. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

perfect for my setup
for the amount of money i spent, i am happy with the decision i made. very simple to put togehter and the shelves are very nice with th right height. one key feature i like is the ability to add shelves to it with out having to disassemble it completely. this product is so nice that i had to buy another one.

A good buy
I'm very pleased with this item. It's sturdy and attractive, is quickly and easily assembled (no tools required), and you can leave off the back panels to keep your audio components cooler. You can even purchase additional shelves if you want to add to it, and casters if you want to be able to roll it around. Less than an hour after I opened the box, I had the rack set up, my audio system was all arranged and plugged in, and I was enjoying my music. You looking for a good audio rack that won't cost you an arm and a leg? Go ahead and buy this. For the price, you can't go wrong.
