Nice but light

(4 out of 5) by jettrink on Oct 1, 2005 (Oregon)
This little tv was bought for the next time a hurricane rolls through our area and we're left in the news dark for days again. The set does what it's supposed to, and the brightness feature can make the picture really clear. However, I was a little surprised at how flimsy this tv is. It is definitely not something you want to take with you on a hike or throw in a glove compartment. All its components are extremely lightweight plastic and I expect we'll need to handle it pretty carefully so that nothing snaps off. But it does deliver what it's supposed to, and overall we're very pleased.

As of now, it's really the best you can get

The Casio 4" LCD Portable TV is really top of the line when it comes to handheld TVs. First off the 4" screen really makes a ton of difference. It's just not worth it to buy a screen that's only 2-3 inches even if it is cheaper, at some point it just gets too small. Secondly the picture (with perfect reception) is definitely better than the others I have seen. Thirdly even in basements and remote places the reception is always the best you can get, I actually ended up getting more channels than I was expecting. The layout makes it perfect to hold with one or two hands as well. The package does include a stand that has two adjustable positions (the back folds out as well) and although the specs say it does not include batteries, mine did for some reason.

They are pretty much correct that the battery life is two hours (although it can last out to two and a half easily).

Unfortunately what brings it down is that the store price (currently at $200) does not include any kind of adapter. It's a major draw back for something with such a short battery life not to have at least an AC or car adapter included. This would certainly justify the price a little more, but when it comes down to handheld TVs, you're really better off getting the best you can get or nothing at all.

I bought this so I wouldn't miss any March Madness, and I couldn't be any happier with the quality of the product. Overall, it's worth the price you pay and better than the other comparable models out there like the Axion ACN-5507 (which although is 5" and included two adapters... also requires 8 batteries, is not as sturdy, doesn't get as good reception and the picture is inferior).

Believe what you read!

Well, I didn't believe the folks that reviewed this EV-4500 Casio 4" tv so I bought one.. Big mistake!! You get a little over one hour of battery life, you don't get an A/c adapter. That's and extra $25.A car adapter is $30 and you have to order both from Casio and yes, IT'S the only one that fits. The stand is just that.. a stand.the tv just sits on it and can fall off with the slightest touch. Reception is ok at best and if you use a headset you only get mono. (That's only sound out of one side) And for the $$$ you should get all the accessories included with the TV. No carrying case either..I used my Circuit City bag...and took the %@#* thing back!! live and learn..

Good TV but accessories expensive

Casio is a good product. Got a good price for the TV, about $139.00 at Amazon. Best Buy, Circuit City had it for about $50 more. When I tried to find the AC and car adapters to save on batteries, I ended up going to Casio to get the correct ones. The AC adapter was $19.95 and the car adapter was $24.95.
Could not find a package deal anywhere.

A lot better than I expected

I love this little TV. Great reception and picture. I bought it for emergency use in hurricaine season but I have been using it almost every day. One small note - the picture on the Amazon website indicates that the unit has AM/FM capabilities. It doesn't. You have to enlarge the picture and look closely but that's what it says. The accessories are not cheap. The A/C adapter, car adapter, and carry case will set you back about $60.
