I was wondering. What will i need to hook this up to a Normal Tube TV? Will i need any kind of Reciever or no?
Excellent
I am very satified with the quality of sound. And the that the system is compact and does'nt take up much room. Set-up for the speakers and system to TV and VHS was easy. Menu set-up took some time to do. Overall very pleased with Norcent DVD Home Theater System. Receive the system when promised.
What a great deal!
At $149.99 (at time of purchase) I wasn't counting on much more than an fair home entertainment system.
It took about 1/2 hour to set up mainly due to having to move other items around in the living room to accomodate the wiring.
The one page quick setup guide is first rate. Everything is clearly marked and this makes setting the unit up a "no effort" proposition. The surround sound wiring is approximately twenty feet. The front and center speakers approximately ten feet. The sub-woofer has the shortest set of wires, but this is moot since it's almost impossible to tell where that low a base is coming from. Each small speaker also includes an smartly designed wall bracket.
The on screen menus take a bit of getting used to, but are well worth the effort as they expand the sound quaiity in many different ways.
The AM/FM radio is very easy to program with 50 presets for each band. The DVD player automatically detects disk format so there is no need to tell the unit if you are using DVD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, etc. It simply "knows." I have also hooked the TV audio out to the Aux1 port so now "broadcast" channels can be heard through the unit. The Aux2 port (like the Aux1 port) will accomodate input via RCA type jacks. The Video in is via RCA or S-Video jacks. DVD control is also very well represented with memory playback, multiple playback speeds, angle, etc. Sub-titling is very easy to turn on and off and is instantaneous. In fact the unit responds instantly to remote commands unlike many early units.
The range of the five small speakers and the sub-woofer are all astounding.
I will certainly buy Norcent again in the future.
