It works fine. Takes a little getting used to it, but works like a charm.

Simple and cheap

(5 out of 5) by Mark Johnson on Apr 28, 2009 (Detroit, MI, USA)
This is a great item for the "regular guy" in astronomy. Sure there are more expensive options (laser) but if you're collimating your dobsonian with a friend there is no easier/cheaper way than this tool. I've lined up my 8 inch dob with this tool multiple times and it never fails. Love this piece. Makes up an essential part of my dobsonian toolkit.

Bad collimation is a scope killer!

(5 out of 5) by R. Duncan on Aug 8, 2008 (Hartford, CT USA)
This thing works. Right out of the box I was able to line up my mirrors in less that an hour to textbook perfect diffraction rings on a star. It is the first real collimation my scope has had since I got it.

I bought a cheap Dobsonian over twenty years ago. Didn't use it much, had a couple of cheap eyepieces. It made pretty good images compared to other scopes but I was never sure of the collimation.

Fast forward to today when the internet allows people to communicate with each other! Read the reviews on collimators and the articles on collimation. This device is a consistent favorite. Cheap and effective, it goes right to the front of my new and improved eyepiece collection.

This is a must have for a reflector.

(5 out of 5) by G. Lyell on Aug 5, 2008 (Johnston City, Illinois)
I have one of these and I love it! It allows me to get my mirror alignment perfect. You don't have to worry about the Laser being off or any problems like that. This will allow you to get your collimation exactly dead on for the best image possible. Plus you don't have to worry about battery's running down.

Collimation Eyepiece

This thing is great. Very useful in collimating your Dobsonian. Use this first, then fine tune with a laster collimator.
