Great Item Except....

(4 out of 5) by Indiana Driver on Jun 2, 2009
Overall I am very happy with this radar detector.

My only complaint is that if I forget and leave it attached to the windshield when the car is parked in the sun the batteries go dead.

This has happened twice now the first time the detector was left exposed to sun all day. The batteries at this point were the ones that came with the detector and had been in use approximately 2 weeks.
The second time the detector was in the sun for only a few hours, and the batteries were only in for a week.

Better range than a Cobra, but go with the corded.

This is the first Passport I had, been using it almost 6 years. Worked well on most occasions... although when a Highway Patrolman is "pulsing" their radar, it has difficulty picking that up.

Overall, great unit if you're on a major highway. Not so good if you're on podunk highways.

This is a great portable radar detector. Almost no false alarms. I also have the Passport 7500 corded unit. These are the two finest detectors that I have ever owned.

ten years and still running

I have owned one of the first solo's for well over 10 years and it still works great. I can move or hide with ease from car to car. Sure you need to buy batteries but no cords to plug in and have hanging all over the place.

Don't waste your hard earned money - Unreliable

(1 out of 5) by Colette Page Cluxton on Apr 20, 2009
Purchased two, used on a 1000+ mile road rally in two separate cars....Both were programmed per instructions. They both yelped all the time when there was nothing to warn about. Even worse, when passing working speed cameras, neither of them even make a peep! We called for verification of it's programming as well. Very disappointing!
