Very Satisfied with this purchase

Purchased this recently offline, and just hooked this puppy up last week. I have svideo coming from digital cable, svideo from x-box, and component for my toshiba dvd player. The picture is super solid....A huge step up from my old analog tv. DVD looks particularly stunning. The colors are sharp and the images clear. Its not quite hdtv quality (obviously), but it is damn good. I find myself watching shows just for the visual pleasure based on the superb picture. I was gonna go hdtv, but didn't based on limited programming, and trouble I have heard about with standard cable programming. Back to the 32af43- as far as analog goes, I couldn't imagine anything better. Picture-solid, Remote- fine, Ease of use- for sure. THe only word of caution I would give is with regard to major scare I had when first turning on. I have heard about how flat picture tubes can distort, and are sensitive of magnetic pull. I didn't have any other electrical equipement even close to the tv. I turned it on and had a green shine from a few of the edges, proliferating a few inches onto the screen. I was mortified (repair/return- what a pain!). But after the I moved the tv off the floor into my wall unit no green edges, blurr....all good. Perfect.
All in all, for the price, I would definately rec. The picture is great, I have had only great experiences with TOshiba, and they have the courtesy to warranty parts and labor for a year (unlike sony). The inputs are more than enough (1 svid front 1 back, 1 component back, and a couple of standard av inputs). Toshiba also added 16:9 pulldown (which was previously only availible through service menu....and they stayed with the movie/sports...cool/medium,warm color settings which are fine. They also have a memory function for saving settings.
Gave it a 4 based only on the fact that I have only had it a week, and I judge electronics like athletes....over the long term. Other than that its a 5 baby!

GREAT SET!

It's simple. The latest Consumer Reports review on TV's (spring 2003) gave this TV a rating close to the ones reserved for the HDTV group. Not even the Sony had a picture as good as this one. If you go to the electronic stores, take a good look at this tv and compare it to others. But there's a trick you need to watch out for!
The big stores have all of the HDTV's & projection tv's in a darkend area, with the units at eye level and with a direct digital feed. They do this so that the projection and LCD units have a good picture as they tend to wash out under harsher lighting. They also give you plenty of room to step back and observe the picture form a distance (who ever watches a tv from 2-3 feet away!).
The standard tv's will be in their normal area, under harsh lights, on metal shelves and very little room between the isles. They also will usually have a standard, non-amplified feed. They get all the glare, may or may not be at eye level, have a feed that has been split 30 times (reducing the resolution) and you are looking at them from 3 feet away. The net result is that the HDTV's and others look lightyears ahead of all the others (with a price to match!!!). The regular tv's sometimes look worse than the 15 year old set you want to replace.
Take my (and Consumer Reports) word for it and you will be glad that you bought this set. The picture is unbelievable and at this price it is a huge value. You'll save between $100 - $200 over the electronic chains.
Gerat set - fantastic price. We got ours delivered from Amazon yesterday and we stayed up late just admiring the picture.
Oh - and it has great sound to - you'll love it!

Very impressive

We bought this set when our old ProScan gave up the ghost. What an incredible difference in picture quality! I can't imagine an analog set being any better than this one, it's better than any projection HDTV or low priced tube HDTV. We have a DVD player hooked up using component inputs, and the colors are absolutely saturated and the clarity just sparkles. Do get it delivered, though, it weighs 150 pounds and is quite front heavy.

Toshiba blows away the competition

Wow, what an awesome TV we just watched Topgun , the picture and sound blew away my 3 year old Panasonic. If you need a new 32 inch this is it. I could write paragraphs about this new model, but believe everything you read about this set in the other reviews. The back is logically set up for your connections . The set naturally is heavy and cumbersome , so u need 2 guys to lift and set it up into position . buy this unit, you'll be glad you did.

Just as good as everyone said it would be

I love this TV, my husband and I really researched when we decided to buy a new television and this one is awesome. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to having such a big TV. The first time we put it on all I could think was what I'd been missing all these years. The only little problem we had was the sound, it seemed to be not up to par with the rest of the set. We hooked up an amp and some speakers and now it sounds great. It is the best $500 bucks I ever spent. If you are looking for a new TV and you can't afford to spend tons of money then this TV is the one. Enjoy!
