Awesome system!!!

(5 out of 5) by Lecia Joy on Jun 11, 2003 (Missouri, USA)
My parents recently bought this for me and IT ROCKS!!! It only took my dad an hour or so to set it all up and hook my existing TV, VCR, and satellite receiver to the system. The remote control is easy to use, the sound is awesome and the speakers are great! I especially like the speaker stands, cuz I didnt have to spend additional money on stands, plus the bases are heavy so the speakers won't fall over and they look really cool. The DVD player plays all my DVDs, CDs and CD-Rs too. I'm very satisfied with this product.

kick @ss stereo

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 8, 2004
I think this is a really great sound system. it has great clear, crisp sound, and its easy to use. tons of options for customing the type of sound u want in it to make it sound just perfect to what u like. It has all together like 6 options for what level and type of surround sound you want. it also includes pre-set speaker settings such as soft, clear, live, disco etc. If u set it to the right sound settings and close your eyes u cant tell where any one of the surround or center speaker are. then if that isnt enough customization for u, then u can choose what u want the volume to be on every single individual speaker. and the bass.. the 240 watt bass is very very very satisfying. so far i only use this sound system for music, so if the dvd options are as kick@ss as the sound end of it, then its a perfect entertainment system. i highly recommend it.

Looks good for the money

(4 out of 5) by J. SPIEGEL on Mar 28, 2004 (Los Angeles, CA United States)
I advised a neighbor to buy this system simply based on the name and price. ($ after MIR at Costco). It seems from the reviews here that there may be issues but for the price and store's return policy it's worth the risk. I'll be setting it up for him tomorrow so we'll see how it actually performs, I agree the remote is too complex but hey, with the money saved buy an HTM MX-500!

Revision: OOps it's the 690 model that's $. Set it up tonight (no stands) Still pretty sweet.

Problems...not many. but pixellation appears

(1 out of 5) by Jose D. Avila on Feb 3, 2004 (san salvador, san salvador El Salvador)
Well the panasonic hometheater system sound is great and the picture is great, however the popping sound only appears when i play my vanilla sky, matrix reloaded and l.a. confidential dvd's. the first 2 dvd titles show a small amount of pixellation...there like little color squares that appear for less than a sec and sometimes interrupt sound but not everytime i play the disc.

I tried those dvd's on my sony dvd player and the discs are perfect. No scratches, no fingerprints, no pixellation and no dust. My l.a. confidential dvd never plays well with the panasonic system, with the sony it is perfect. If someone can tell me why i get this little color squares but the discs are perfect.

This panasonic home theater dvd really disappointed me when i played those discs, and how nows what other dvd's get those little annoying squares and what annoys me the most is that they dont always appear on the same chapter, sometimes not at all and sometimes they do appear.

1 star for the problems, cuz the sound and picture is great but the little squares really tick me off. is there something i can do to stop that from happening?

Low Price but not the best

(3 out of 5) by P. Rajendra on Jan 27, 2004 (birmingham, al United States)
bad: gets overheated when, and you can hear pops in the speakers(it happened only with MP3 in my case)
progressive scan may not be working in my case.
can adjust seating position(it wont work)

good: cant find a similar stuff for this price.
sound is good, looks fabolous.....

i may return it(just 3 weeks old)....since the overheating may become a big problem in the long run...
