Engineering marvel !!

This system rocks! This is an amazing product. It delivers rich, crystal clear sound. The best thing I love about the MX-GT88 is the bass. I never expected that a small system like this can sound so well when it comes to bass. I tested other models and brands but this one is truly amazing. If you are a bass lover, this is the system for you.

Highly recommended!!

awsome system

(5 out of 5) by Justin Bogard on Nov 17, 2003 (Peachtree City, GA United States)
i bought this system for the bass. it sounded ok untill i realized it has its own bass channels. i am really into bass so i hooked up an audiobahn 12 in. sub to the system as well as the 8's that it already has. now the bass is incredible. it is so loud that it shakes things off my dresser and even made a picture fall off the wall. if you want to do this it would be well worth it. all you do is take the wires from your extra sub and put the positive on the first channel and the negative on the second channel of the sub channels. if you hook up the subs that came with the system as well as your new one it will sound amazing. if you like bass this will make your head spin. i promise it is well worth it. if you are worried about burning up the amp from running all that power from it dont worry, it has a cooling fan built in. i have blasted it for hours on end and it never gets hot. if you like bass i garantee you wont be disapointed. this system also has really crisp and rich sound. i give this system five stars.

AMAZING AND WONDERFUL SYSTEM!!

(5 out of 5) by Alan on Jul 10, 2004 (PA)
Wow, I'm a definite JVC man for the rest of my life! I just recently upgraded from their 240 watt system to this baby and it has blown me away with it's amazing sound and bass power! The built in giga tubes are amazing and just sitting on the bed between the two speakers while jamming you can seriously feel like a high wind is blowing through at you from two sides! THEY HAVE SO MUCH POWER!! No other system will wow you like this system (well I'm sure the systems that are even higher wattage than this one from JVC will!) GET ONE NOW IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A STEREO SYSTEM!!Q

A $250 system with $400 system sound quality

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 12, 2004
I have been shopping for a mini system for over half a year. When the Sony came out with 240 Watts with a 120 Watts subwoofer, I thought that was the best system under $250. However, what changed my mind was the superior sound quality of this JVC system.

The Sonys I tested, one came with 1 subwoofer, the other with 2 subwoofers. Both of the system were good until if I listened to jazz, the bass was too harsh, still in the more heavy metal music range. However, playing disco or club music was fine with the Sonys.

Okay, back to this wonderful JVC system. The second I turned up the volume of this JVC, the mid-range was smoother than the Sonys, the basss was softer than the Sonys, that was up until the moment I realized that there was the Super-Bass button and I pressed it, it was in the level 2 super-bass level, and it was the decisive point. The bass was deeper, smoother, more controlled, more powerful and better suited to different kind of music than the Sonys. In my opinion, the Sonys are only good for heavy metal and games.

This JVC is versatile for different kind of music. I have not mentioned the treble, which was excellent and crisp as well. After I brought it home, I enjoyed jazz music, club music, classical music, and other music types.

Yet, the appearance leaves some room for desire. Despite the good silver color, I do which that the JVC has more higher class appearance than the rest of the competition (such as Panasonic, Philips) which usually try so hard to compete for nowadays young gamers who like audio systems that look FUNNY.

Besides, the JVC does not come with Karaoke function, which is disappointing since no mini system nowadays offer karaoke functions anymore, even Aiwa has abandon the market for the gaming market and put USB input function instead.

All in all, sound-wise, this is the system one should seriously consider for under $250. You save money for not having the need to buy a separate subwoofer and you save space as well. And with 460 Watts total output, you can't go wrong with turning up the volume higher and higher until you feel every wall around you is dancing and shaking.
